In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. She argues that, in truth, vulnerability is strength and when we shut ourselves off from vulnerability - from revealing our true selves - we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Rising Strong, written and read by Brené Brown. The physics of vulnerability is simple: if we are brave enough often enough, we will fall. This is a book about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of disappointment, failure and heartbreak gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and Rising Strong our clearest path to deeper meaning, wisdom and hope.

For many years, Glennon Doyle denied her discontent. Then, while speaking at a conference, she looked at a woman across the room and fell instantly in love. Three words flooded her mind: There. She. Is. At first, Glennon assumed these words came to her from on high but soon she realised they had come to her from within. This was the voice she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions and social conditioning. Glennon decided to let go of the world’s expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.

The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things - a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Description
The 10th-anniversary edition of the game-changing number one New York Times best seller, featuring a new foreword.
For more than a decade, Brené Brown has found a special place in our hearts as a gifted mapmaker and a fellow traveler. She is both a social scientist and a kitchen-table friend whom you can always count on to tell the truth, make you laugh, and, on occasion, cry with you. And what's now become a movement all started with The Gifts of Imperfection, which has sold more than two million copies in 35 different languages across the globe.
What transforms this book from words to effective daily practices are the 10 guideposts to wholehearted living. The guideposts not only help us understand the practices that will allow us to change our lives and families, they also walk us through the unattainable and sabotaging expectations that get in the way.
Brené writes, "This book is an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, 'My story matters because I matter.' Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance."

Started and finished today
I love Brené Brown’s work, having only (somehow) discovered her work in the last year. I tend to believe it’s the “when the student is ready the teacher appears thing.” Anyway - while on vacation and focusing on my “play” I listened “cover to cover” today, especially enjoying that Brené reads her own work. This is just so freaking GOOD and powerful . I will listen again and again, and yes, go to the “hub” to pull down all the things also released today to accompany. What a teacher and what a great thing to be a part of, Brené’s community

Many, many 'Aha!' moments
If you haven't experienced any of Brené's work before, you are missing something from your life. If you aren't sure yet, start with her TED talks, Netflix special, and The Power of Vulnerability audio book. I have almost all the audibles and will be getting the hardcover books because she literally changed my life.

Anecdotal drivel
I’ve tried a few times to get Brené Brown. I still can’t. I think it maybe because she has breadth but no depth. She covers everything on the surface level and all her anecdotes are personal instead of from a variety of people who she supposedly researches. I am tired of this genre of women self-help books who all essentially say “you should be happy no matter your circumstances because I am and this is how I do it so why aren’t you?”. If you want a book that actually is written by a real researcher with more than personal anecdotes then check out Emotional Agility by Susan David. That book actually helped instead of pandering to the anxious masses.

Excellent resource for most all people
This exposesThe fallacies of the human mind. It exposes our false need to be perfect and to see the value of ourselves both and self-worth and self-esteem. When the reader really puts work and effort into the things taught, depression can be reduced.

The revolution we all need
Bréne‘s work is as scientifically grounded and convincing as it is authentic and raw and speaking from the heart. Her voice and personal references make it very real and relatable and stress the key message of the book: we’re all in this together, we share the same struggles and we have to start the revolution from within each one of us.
