When Cal Newport coined the term deep work on his popular blog, Study Hacks, in 2012, he found the concept quickly hit a nerve.

Description
David Allen reads an all-new edition of his popular self-help classic for managing work-life balance in the 21st century - now updated for the new challenges facing individuals and organizations in today's rapidly changing world.
Since it was first published more than 15 years ago, David Allen's Getting Things Done has become one of the most influential business books of its era and the ultimate book on personal organization. "GTD" is now shorthand for an entire way of approaching professional and personal tasks and has spawned an entire culture of websites, organizational tools, seminars, and offshoots.
Allen has rewritten the book from start to finish, tweaking his classic text with important perspectives on the new workplace and adding material that will make the book fresh and relevant for years to come. This new edition of Getting Things Done will be welcomed not only by its hundreds of thousands of existing fans but also by a whole new generation eager to adopt its proven principles.

so many info but so few to take
this book is boring !
the only good advice that I took from it was : you have to write down the next task in a "action to make" in order to motivate you to do it. That's it, you can trash everything else.

I'm a 36 yr old woman who has ADHD and has suffered much stress, anxiety & shame from a severely disorganised adult life; rarely planning ahead more than a month or so. Worthy Upgrade - Worth Your Time
This new audio edition of Getting Things Done advances the practice of GTD and covers a slightly updated process as we have embraced new technology along with reinforcing the tenets of the GTD methodology that have been proven-out by research conducted over the years since the first edition was released.
This Audible edition will inspire new students to embrace the practice of GTD and will re-energize current practitioners that might need a shot in the arm.
As with the first edition of Getting Things Done, hearing David Allen explain GTD will inspire you to jump into GTD with both feet. His narration comes from the heart which only makes the "story" better.
Solid production only adds to a wonderful listening experience. Highly recommended!

Ignore Reviews Claiming "No New Material"
I'm at a loss for why anyone would claim this book is the same as original. Unless a person doesn't read it in its entirety or is hoping for a new quick fix that varied greatly from the original program, this book is a new life changer all is own. David Allen addresses most all of the "holes" that one might have found in the first writing. He gives a much more extensive, detailed explanation of the 5 steps of GTD, their benefits, new best practices for each, scientific reasoning and common pitfalls. Lastly, he's not the same person he was 15 years ago and explains things in a more understandable and organized manner in this edition. This is not a rewrite done to keep an publisher with new material. This is one of the most well thought our rewrites I've ever read. If you are a GTDer, or a constantly restarting want to be, lol, like I was for years, this book will bring new life to your efforts to have a mind like water.

Please have someone else narrate!!
What did you like best about Getting Things Done? What did you like least?
GTD comes highly recommended by some of my favorite productivity youtube channels and blogs. I got the physical copy on Amazon but with little time sit down and read, I decided to get the audio book so I can listen on my long drive to work. Unfortunately David Allen's narration is more dry and bland than a piece of overcooked and unseasoned chicken. His voice is droll and made it difficult to pay attention, despite the interesting concept. I had also just finished Stephen Covey's "7 Habits" book, and his voice and narration style is much easier to listen to and digest. I think I would rather just make the time to read the book than waste another minute listening to it. Maybe if he didn't narrate the book it would be worth the credit, but as is, skip the audio book and get the paperback.

Repetitive
I did not listen to the shorter version of the book but there isn't much content here. I am certain that all of the primary points are in the 3 hour version of the audiobook.
In this version, the author cites his love for the use of paper with his system numerous times. He always caveats computer usage like it is inferior and foreign to him. I have finished over 100 audiobooks (mostly nonfiction) and I could not finish this book even after putting it on 2x. He simply repeats himself too much.
I will be requesting a refund.

This book has changed my life since I first read it but hearing this new version has revealed new meaning and content that was not clear up to now. Inbox Zero Achieved
I first read GTD many years ago and implemented some of the principles. As I am looking to step up my productivity, I decided to grab the updated audio version.
The second time through is already proving successful as I was able to get my email inbox to zero (from 8k) and have next actions assigned to all projects. With each accomplishment, I gain more fuel to drive me further within the GTD program.
My only complaint is that the audio book was a bit dull at times, and hard to get through. As a returning GTD believer, I knew it was worth pushing through, but more real world stories or implementations (similar to what is on the GTD podcast) would make it easier to get through the book.
Complaint aside, I believe if I get one great takeaway from a book it was worth it, and GTD delivers many more.

too hard category.
Listening to this book is in the too hard category. First the author talks about his personal experience writing this Edition, ad nauseum. Then he spends a lot of time explaining the content. And it goes downhill from there. I quit at the beginning of chapter 3. I just couldn't take it anymore.

Genial!
Warum?
Sehr gut! Angenehme Stimme, sehr engagiert und authentisch.
Hat dieses Hörbuch Sie emotional stark bewegt? Mussten Sie laut z.B. lachen, weinen, zweifeln, etc.?

Mediocre, not recommended as audiobook
The author/narrator is overly fond of long words and long-winded sentences. That makes for a poor audiobook experience.
Also, more than a guide, this book sounds rather like a sales pitch for consultancy services, and it seems to be aimed mostly at executives and less at average employed folks. Maybe it works well in printed form where you can skip and skim over paragraphs, but not in this format.
It's a pity because the core material is good and would be useful. The audio experience may confirm that the concept is useful to you, or that it isn't - but that can be done faster than listening to this entire book.

Useful information, not so easy to get in audio form
I like the content of this book and I find there are very useful tips that I added to my everyday life. But the audio format for this kind of information was not the proper for me to digest. I ended up buying the physical format because I could not follow the information presented in an audio format.
Again, I think it is a good book with good content. It is just that the audio format was not the proper for to correctly absorb the info.

Rundum - Paket
