    Description

Perturabo - master of siegecraft and the executioner of Olympia. Long has he lived in the shadow of his more favoured primarch brothers, frustrated by the mundane and ignominious duties which regularly fall to his Legion.

When Fulgrim offers him the chance to lead an expedition in search of ancient and destructive xenos weaponry, the Iron Warriors and the Emperor's Children unite and venture deep into the heart of the great star maelstrom that haunts Perturabo's dreams.

Pursued by vengeful survivors from Isstvan V and the revenants of a dead eldar world, they must work quickly if they are to unleash the devastating power of the Angel Exterminatus.

A deep spiral into the madness of Fulgrim.

This book is fantastic start to finish. If you want to read a book that gives the spotlight to the Iron Warriors and Perturabo, read Angel Exterminatus. Starting with an epic slaughter of a battle between the Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists, introducing Fulgrim in his bizarre flagrancy and slowly showing his descent into Daemon Primarchood, the book takes many twists and turns that are not only enjoyable to read but make you appreciate the absolute cold and bitter bad*sses that the Iron Warriors and Perturabo are. Perturabo went from being a Primarch I knew nothing about to one that I absolutely adore, a tactical mastermind and renaissance man that simply wanted to construct awe inspiring and beautiful structures for the Emperor but forced to tackle the most mentally and physically demanding grindfests that the Imperium could send him too. He is a dreamer turned broken soldier that is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Amazing book, one of my favorites. Easily.

    Really surprised

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Perturabo is great and now my second favorite traitor primarch, behind Magnus.

    Awesome

One of the best of the series so far. Perturabo was a relative mystery to me, and he now seems like one of the more interesting Primarchs, especially among the Traitors. He is a complex character in an elegant plot, and the addition of regular (and excellent) action sequences make for some tense reading. Angel Exterminatus is longer than many (maybe most) of the H.H., and it flew by for me, not in small part to David Timson's great narration.

McNeil continues reign as my favorite 40k author

great book, enjoyed it cover to cover. back and forth perspective between the factions is a fun way to go and it was great to see Chaos taking it's steps toward damnation

    A unexpectedly fun listen

I'm always surprised by how much I enjoy these. At first I was like "a book about Fulgrim and Perturabo" what is going to be good about that...

    *starts listening to the book

Oh... this is such a good story...

The Character interactions are what make this book. You really get to know Perturabo's history and thoughts in this book.

A fantastic story laid low by a medicore author

This story chronicles the interactions of the primarchs Perturabo and Fulgrim. A fantastic look at the degeneration of The Emperor's Children, storying the extreme worship of Slaanesh and the monstrous rites done by Fabius Bile. But, like so many of his other works, Graham McNeill seems intent on mucking it up. From the idea that The Eye of Terror somehow was never named that prior to this story up to the strange lack of knowledge about warp storms, this story suffers from McNeill's inability to grasp that the Warhammer 40,000 world has other authors whose works must be respected and acknowledge, even if only tangentially. This story is a fantastic example of how good the works of GW can be, and how their choice of authors is frequently the blow that hamstrings them the worst.

Perturabo and the Iron Warriors take the spotlight

Overall, the story was very good and I felt it was one of the best in the Horus Heresy series to this point. It is primarily a novel about the Traitor Primarchs Perturabo and Fulgrim as well as parts of their legions. Perturabo is a star in the book and his character was easy for me to empathize with in the novel. If not for a small twist of fate, he could have been one of the most loyal and well-respected Primarchs. Of the nine Traitor Legion Primarchs, this story has scenes depicting him as one of the more reasonable and more sane.

The story is mostly about Fulgrim and Perturabo embarking on a quest to local an ancient super-weapon, the Angel Exterminatus. While they have the resources of two full Legions and their support elements, the Eldar and a force of Loyalists are involved in the chase for the weapon. Amid the potential treachery between aliens, Loyalists and Traitors, even brothers might not be trusted.

Genial gemacht und super zu hören

Das Hörbuch war spannend, unterhaltsam und gut gesprochen. Der Sprecher war gut zu verstehen und hat es gut dargestellt.
