    Aug 4 2025

Train With Your Kids. Be Useful. Be Uncommon. In this episode, I sat down with my brother Ben Barker (@benbarkerfitness)—the original Alpha Dad—to talk fatherhood, fitness, and what it really means to lead at home.We broke down what most men won’t admit:You don’t have a time problem. You have a priority problem.Ben shared how cutting Netflix and auditing his phone time created the space to show up stronger—for his wife, his kids, and his mission. We jammed on flexible training schedules, building a family-friendly garage gym, balancing ambition with presence, and why tracking your workouts, food, and finances isn’t optional if you want to build a legacy. We also got into:🔥 Why strength = usefulness in a crisis🔥 How to train with your kids so they naturally emulate your habits🔥 The difference between “fitness as hobby” and “fitness as service”🔥 Why mobility, protein, and long walks are the real flex🔥 And how one message—Train With Your Kids—could change everythingThis one’s packed with practical wisdom, dad banter, and the kind of fire that’ll get you off the couch and back in the arena.Chapters00:00 The Journey to Becoming an Alpha Dad02:47 Balancing Responsibilities and Self-Care05:51 The Importance of Fitness in Fatherhood08:52 Creating a Supportive Family Fitness Environment11:42 Making Tough Cuts for a Healthier Life14:06 The Role of Fitness in Community and Family17:13 Practical Steps to Start Your Fitness Journey19:58 Nutrition: The Key to Fitness Success22:54 The Long-Term Benefits of Fitness25:33 Final Thoughts on Training with Kids

  • X - The Origin Of The Father
    Jul 21 2025

Most men have no idea why they react the way they do.
    Why they shut down.
    Why they explode.
Why they feel like they’re failing—even when they’re “doing everything right.”

In this solo episode, I rip the mask off the modern dad and share my own raw journey through fatherhood, anxiety, and the broken masculine blueprint I inherited.

    I unpack:
⚔️ Why your origin story matters—and how your childhood still runs the show
⚔️ The real Hero’s Journey—and the moment every man must face his Father
⚔️ How breathwork and meditation helped me stop spinning and start leading
    ⚔️ Why your family doesn’t need a martyr—they need a lighthouse
⚔️ And how I began to become the King my kids could model and my wife could trust

This is about breaking the cycle.
    Redefining masculinity.
And becoming the calm, present, powerful father your legacy depends on.

Your kids won’t remember what you said
    They’ll remember who you were.

    Let’s get to work.

  • 46 - Raising Resilient Kids In A Toxic World w/ Jessica Pawlicki
    Jul 8 2025

Let’s get real for a second...

If your kid has eczema, ADHD, gut issues, or chronic illness…
    It’s not just bad luck.
And slapping some cream or meds on it isn’t going to fix what’s really going on.

In this episode, I sit down with Jessica Pawlicki, founder of Well Rooted and a straight-up powerhouse in functional medicine. She’s the one we call when conventional docs say “there’s nothing we can do.”

    We talk:

    • Why so many kids are struggling physically, emotionally, and mentally

    • How eczema, allergies, asthma, and ADHD are all connected (and often gut-driven)

    • The hidden toxins in your home, clothes, and food that wreck your kid’s system

    • Why meds and creams might buy time—but they also make things worse long-term

    • How to detox your house, your habits, and your mindset

    • And how to actually get to the root cause instead of patching symptoms

Jessica also shares her story—how she went from hospice nurse to being fired for questioning the system… to now running a thriving, mission-driven clinic helping thousands of families across the country.

“If you're not testing, you're guessing.”
“And if you don't advocate for your kids, no one else will.”

This convo is 🔥—especially if you want to raise strong, healthy, resilient kids in a toxic world.

If you're a dad (or a mom listening over his shoulder), this one’s a must.

  • 45 - Slow Down to Level Up: Breath, Brotherhood & Base Stance with Todd Steinberg
    Jun 18 2025

Most dads are running on fumes—racing through the day, snapping at their kids, disconnected from their wives, and wondering why the hell they feel so off.

In this episode, I sit down with Todd Steinberg, co-founder of Komuso Design, to unpack a simple but powerful truth: If you want to become a better father, you have to slow down.

    We explore:

    • How a literal Dunkin’ straw changed Todd’s life and led to the creation of a breathwork tool used by Navy SEALs, Wall Street execs, and overwhelmed dads alike

    • The difference between preventative and rescue breathing—and how to use both to stop losing your sh*t

    • Why most men are stuck in stress loops and how breath + brotherhood can break the cycle

    • How to build a "base stance" to meet chaos with calm instead of reactivity

    • And what it really means to pass down a legacy of presence, discipline, and clarity to your kids

This isn’t woo-woo. It’s physiology, mindset, and ancient wisdom turned into real-world tools that can change your life—and your family’s trajectory.

⚔️ Want to be the father your kids actually look up to?

Which type of man are you?
There are two types of men,
and the one you are will have a direct impact on your kids,
whether you (and they) like it or not.
There is the man who faces his dragons head on
and does the work to heal his wounds and end family cycles
so that his kids won’t have to.
And there is the man who numbs himself out
to the discomfort of it all, escaping and coping,
and avoiding the uncomfortable work at all costs.
He convinces himself that it’s okay,
that he’s doing the right thing b/c this is what he’s SUPPOSED to do,
EVERYBODY does this — so it’s all good.
The man who avoids the dragon calls it to his village
to burn his home, his marriage, his family — becoming
the burden of this children. This is how
the family cycle gets passed on.
It falls on us to do the work necessary
to set the standard that we want
our boys and girls to inherit.
B/c whether we like it or not,
they’ll be compelled to repeat it.
@Fit_Fordam and I dive DEEP into this and so much more —
the role of the father to his son & to his daughter,
the cost of reassignment on our wife and marriage —
    in today’s podcast.
So, which type of man are you?
    Me? I’m a DragonSlayer.
B/c that’s what my kids deserve.

    May 20 2025

It’s one thing that no-one told me would happen as a parent.
And people tell you ALL KINDS of unhelpful stories, but I wish someone had clued me on on this,
because it PERPLEXED my wife and I.
We just couldn’t figure out why my son would be sweet ALL DAY, and then when I got from home from work — or my wife got home, it didn’t matter — he’d go full Vegeta Super Saiyan.
When your kids feel safe, loved, and accepted by you, no matter how sweet & responsible they are with other people, they might just be little balls of chaos and emotions at home.
BECAUSE they feel free to express and to be themselves.
And your job isn’t to shut them down, to tell them to suck it up or to stop crying,
but help them learn how to REGULATE all of that energy.
Whether you like it or not,
    it will be your legacy.
Today, @jasonschnitzercoaching and I go DEEP on emotional regulation and how it impacts your marriage and kids. We explore the stigma around emotions for men and how we can begin to take back control of ourselves and our lives so we may show up as the leaders our wife and kids need and deserve.

A lot of men make this mistake, and it really takes a toll on their family.
We assume that we simply need to do better for our kids.
To give THEM the life we want for them,
and we leave ourselves on the back burner.
    We SACRIFICE for them,
and model them a life of workaholism,
grinding it out, and burning ourselves out. And that’s the operating system we program into them.
    The truth is:
to really do better for our kids
    to really SERVE our kids,
we have to do better for ourselves first.
    Dads are required to live
a life of vitality, of energy, of passion.
And from that place of health,
vitality, fullness, we can be the cup
    that overflows THEIR little cups,
and gives them an operating system we’re proud to hand down.
In today’s show with @lockehaman , we explore what it looks like to be our best as husbands and dads, how to take ownership for our marriage, and to become the dads our kids deserve by learning to reparent ourselves.
We even explore the depth of generational trauma, and how to ensure our kids don’t have to carry it any further down the road.

There is no purpose greater than fatherhood, but most men are drastically underprepared. Even though this generation of dads have 3xed the amount of time spent caring for their kids, 39% of dads still feel like they're not doing enough, and I imagine that's underreported. We've lost the Rites of Passage that prepared us for the responsibilities of manhood, husbandhood, and fatherhood, but Max has insights that might just help you fill in some of those gaps. Who knows, you might just leave a legacy far more enduring than the money you have in the bank.
