It’s one thing that no-one told me would happen as a parent.
And people tell you ALL KINDS of unhelpful stories, but I wish someone had clued me on on this,
because it PERPLEXED my wife and I.
We just couldn’t figure out why my son would be sweet ALL DAY, and then when I got from home from work — or my wife got home, it didn’t matter — he’d go full Vegeta Super Saiyan.
When your kids feel safe, loved, and accepted by you, no matter how sweet & responsible they are with other people, they might just be little balls of chaos and emotions at home.
BECAUSE they feel free to express and to be themselves.
And your job isn’t to shut them down, to tell them to suck it up or to stop crying,
but help them learn how to REGULATE all of that energy.
Whether you like it or not,
it will be your legacy.
