Description
If you eat to help manage your emotions, you may have discovered that it doesn't work. Once you're done eating, you might even feel worse. Eating can all too easily become a strategy for coping with depression, anxiety, boredom, stress, and anger and a reliable reward when it's time to celebrate.
If you are ready to experience emotions without consuming them or being consumed by them, the mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills in End Emotional Eating can help. This audiobook does not focus on what or how to eat - rather, these scientifically supported skills will teach you how to manage emotions and urges gracefully, live in the present moment, learn from your feelings, and cope with distress skillfully.

Amazing resource for those that struggle with food
The exercises work! The core concepts in this book are solid--mindfulness, self compassion, acceptance, urge surfing, and living by core values.
I found great results right away with the exercises. I finally believe there's a way out of this!
With emotional eating there is no magic cure but this book walks you through how to get comfortable sitting with uncomfortable emotions and dealing with urges and triggers.
I was already familiar with many of the concepts in this book: mindfulness, DBT, practicing self compassion. But I found that the book brought it together and focused on emotional eating in a powerful and concise way.
I've had eating disorders for over 30 yrs. This book gave me new hope and easy to remember tools to practice with.

This book was very helpful to me
This was my first behavior therapy book. It was very helpful to me. I plan to listen to it many times to help me with my struggle with food. I also loved the narrator.

Needed Accompanying PDFs
There are so many exercises in this book that I had to pull out my laptop every three to five minutes to type them out in order to do the exercises. I think the book would have been amazing with an accompanying PDF. I had to return it. I was typing out half the book just so I could get the exercises down. I think the exercises would have been helpful. But this should not be an audio book or it should come with a companion guide you can print.

Great Read for EVERYONE
This book isn't just for emotional eaters. I feel everyone with emotions can benefit from reading this book. It was so meaty. I ended up buying both the audio version and paperback so that I could re-read every chapter and take notes. I highly recommend this book.

Poor narration destroys the book
In the preface, an author of DBT theory mispronounces Marsha Linehan, the founder of DBT therapy, thus removing significant credibility about the book. Moving on to the narrator, she read very poorly too, as one reading to 3rd graders. Couldn't go on

Insightful
Enjoyed this very much. Helped me to better emotional eating and to apply exercises to gain prospective. It's the kind of book I will keep on hand for reference, and to listen to again for reminders and support.

The only book you need for the road to recovery.
I've read numerous books on binge eating, and this is the best book in terms of gaining practical skills when dealing with emotions. This book has so many helpful exercises that you can practice. It really digs into the root problem of what may cause a binge eating episode. The author is very compassionate and thoughtful of the audience, sharing personal stories and stories of others in recovery. #dbt #eatingdisorder #bingeeating #foodaddiction #recovery #practical #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
