Description
Dr. Aphra teams up with Darth Vader himself in this audiobook original - an expanded adaptation of the critically acclaimed Marvel comics series, performed by a full cast.
Dr. Chelli Lona Aphra, rogue archaeologist, is in trouble again.
A pioneer in the field of criminal xenoarchaeology, Aphra recognizes no law, has no fear, and possesses no impulse control. To her, the true worth of the galactic relics she discovers isn’t found in a museum, but in an arsenal. This viewpoint has led to a lot of misunderstandings. After her latest plan goes horribly wrong, her roguish ways are on the verge of catching up to her, when suddenly Darth Vader, terror of the galaxy, swoops in with his lightsaber ignited and...saves her life?
Don’t get her wrong - it’s not like she’s ungrateful. Sure, her new boss is a lord of the Sith. And okay, she may have just become a pawn in a deadly game being played by him and his boss, who happens to be the Galactic Emperor. And yes, the life expectancy of anyone who disappoints Vader can be measured in seconds.
But she’s back doing what she does best. She’s got a ship to fly, a heist to pull, and two unorthodox but effective metal buddies: Triple-Zero, a protocol droid specializing in etiquette, customs, translation, and torture; and BT-1, an astromech loaded with enough firepower to take down a battlecruiser. Together, they might just find a way to get the job done and avoid the deadly performance review that waits at its conclusion.
Just kidding. She’s doomed.

This is absolutely brilliant
It's even better than the comic and perfectly captures the spirit. Funny as hell and Chelli is endlessly likeable. Dr. Aphra is my favorite Star Wars of the Disney era outside of maybe Rogue One. I would buy 10 more of these if they made them. 100. And I would totally subscribe to Disney+ if they actually make the rumored Aphra series. And I don't even like Disney or want to give them my money! I say that just to emphasize how badly I want more Aphra in every possible medium.

Not an original story. Lifted from Vader comic.
Don’t get me wrong, the performances are great and the internal monologues are funny and insightful. But most of the story and dialogue was lifted word for word from the vader comics by Keiron Gillen. If you were looking for a new story, Don’t waste your credits.

EXCELLENT
Even though I’d read the comics and knew the ending, I absolutely LOVED this retelling. Emily Woo Zeller brought just the right amount of sass and vulnerability to Aphra. With the exception of one couple-minute exchange between Aphra and Sana (Nicole Lewis) the voices were distinct and clear and well-acted.
Biggest complaint? It was TOO SHORT! I wanted MORE! :-)

Best SW Audio book I've listened to
I have about 40 in my library and this one definitely tops them on performance alone.

Lacking any real plot content
I read the Dr. Aphra comics and enjoyed them. I also have been very pleased with a lot of the Star Wars books lately but this one just doesn’t meet the standards that the Thrawn series, Alphabet Squadron, and others have set. The plot is meandering and seemingly pointless and the personality quirks of Aphra that come through in the comics are more just annoying in this version. I would recommend going for a different expanded universe book.

Pour One Out For The Disaster Gays
an absolutely delightful story set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back Aphra follows new to non-comics fans character Doctor Chelloni Aphra as she ends up with Darth Vader trying to figure out who this mysterious kid that destroyed the Death Star is. Emily Woo Zeller is an absolute delight as disaster lesbian space archaeologist Aphra and the rest of the cast sprinkled in make for a fun performance.
if you've read the comic arcs Aphra is based on one of the best things about listening is when a line of dialogue from the comics pops up and you can picture the panel. if you haven't read the comics it's absolutely not necessary as this is a comprehensive introduction to Aphra in a setting most star wars fans know well.

A character I'm growing to love.
Audio versions of comics, which this seems to be are quite useful for the blind, and this is well done. Only recognize a handful of cast members from other works they've done, Star Wars related or otherwise. LOL on how deadpan Aphra can be.

Another great audio drama for star wars.
This is another great drama by a full cast for star wars. This in my opinion, is better then the original radio dramas for public radio fourty years ago.

Fantastic Adaptation
Doctor Aphra in my opinion is one of the best characters created by this Disney era Star Wars. I loved all the Marvel comics and to hear it adapted into this story was wonderful the performances are all really well done!

A perfect companion to the comics
How far has this character come in a few years.
If you were reading the new canon Marvel's series that started in 2015 this is a great addition to those few initial issues, it might even make you want to revisit them

Unusual for a Star Wars novell
This is totally different from any Star Wars novel I ever read/listened. The performance is extremely well done, down to the voice of Darth Vader and ambient sounds in any situation. The story is not very special in itself, but it doesn't fail to entertain. Some elements, like one of the droids remind me a lot of games like "Knights of the Old Republic".
