Description

The less interesting story of the serie so far
For me, this was the least interesting part of the series so far, perhaps because it is based around a cold case, and it takes a while to truly start. The story is filled with violence and seemingly senseless deaths. Just when it seems like the story is heading in a promising direction, it changes direction and diminishes the relevance and contribution of the previous events to the overall plot. On a positive note, the new narrator is a significant improvement over the previous one. As others have mentioned, there is occasional background music that overshadows the narration, making it hard to follow, but this doesn't happen often. The final twist is quite frustrating and reinforces my earlier points. It also undermines the otherwise valid critique of journalism presented in the story. While the book is lengthy, it's always interesting to follow Harry Bosch. I recommend reading it before moving on to the next book in the series, which is a much better experience with an even more skilled narrator.
