Description

Don't miss the exclusive content in this thrilling adaptation of Solo: A Star Wars Story, with scenes from alternate versions of the script including Han Solo's time in the Imperial Navy, Qi'ra's past, the beginnings of the rebellion, and more!

Though Han Solo has thrilled Star Wars fans for decades, the notorious wisecracking scoundrel was chasing adventure and dodging trouble long before he walked into the cantina at Mos Eisley spaceport.

Young Han dreams of someday soaring into space at the helm of his own starship and leaving his home, the gritty industrial planet Corellia, far behind. But as long as he's trapped in a life of poverty and crime - and under the thumb of the sinister Lady Proxima and her brutal street gang - reaching the distant stars seems impossible. When Han tries to escape with his girlfriend and partner-in-crime, Qi'ra, he makes it out - but she doesn't. Desperate for a way to find his own offworld vessel and free her, Han enlists in the Imperial Navy - the last place for a rebellious loner who doesn't play well with others.

When the Empire clips his wings, Han goes rogue and plunges into the shady world of smugglers, gamblers, and con artists. There he meets the charming and cunning high roller Lando Calrissian, makes an unlikely friend in a cantankerous Wookiee called Chewbacca, and first lays eyes on the Millennium Falcon. To snag his piece of the outlaw pie, Han joins a crew of pirates to pull off a risky heist. The stakes are high, the danger is great, and the odds are slim. But never tell Han Solo the odds.

Praise for Solo: A Star Wars Story:

"If you liked the movie but were left wanting more, this novel has exactly what you need." (CNET)

"A fun adventure tale within the larger Star Wars franchise that goes beyond the run-of-the-mill novelization treatment to explore a new bit of the world that we haven't yet seen." (The Verge)

Better execution than the movie!

This was a fantastic, more in depth version of the story from the movie. Wish the Kazdans had written a script more like this.

At last, solo revealed!

I heard the film, and loved it. If you have read my reviews on other star wars audiobooks, you know I am a big fan based on the ratings I give, This book is no exception, I always like these novels, because they provide information not known in the film. In this case, we find out what happens to Kyra after Han escapes, and we also see the origin of the relationship between Han, and Chewbacca . If you have listened to the books in the star wars legends series, you found out that Han rescued Chewbacca from the empire. This revelation, I am glad to see is taken from those novels, and adapted for the screenplay, and book. Despite what Disney stated about the poor showing in the theaters, This novel, and film are doing quite well. Another great performance by Marc in this audiobook narration."number tagsgiving" "number sweepstakes"

Loved

The ending though! I really liked it. Helped with the “rough” aspect of the movie. Explained some things and helped explain some of the character’s motivation. I think this is a book worth reading. What I appreciate about the new cannon is that the authors are tying everything together pretty seamlessly. Is it perfect? No. But I definitely think you’ll enjoy this book if you enjoy reading Star Wars novels.

Mark Thompson give sand a voice and make Anakin Skywalker like it

He’s a god and makes me rethink life. Where would I be if I had not heard Mark Thompson

Another SW Movie Fix & Thompson's best work yet!

Like the TLJ novel, this adds a great deal and improves the movie immensely. The characters and their motivations are really fleshed out. Marc Thompson is always great but he is TRULY masterful here and his characters are spot on! Some definite surprises, even if you've seen the movie. I wish the epilogue was included on the movie Blu-ray!

I loved it!

I loved the story, the extras that didn't make it into the film, filling things out, etc., and the epilogue was unexpected.

What I find annoying is the narration. Way too much overemphasis. On pretty much everything. And Chewie's voice was a weak imitation. Beckett was almost spot on.

Mandatory Star Wars Reading

Like all novelizations of Star Wars films, Mur's adaptation provides great context, hidden gems and more story that you don't get on the big screen. Well crafted and imminently enjoyable.

Excellent adaptation with many bonuses!

Star Wars fans have been blessed this year with two exceptional movie adaptations, the first being Jason Fry’s The Last Jedi, and now Solo by Mur Lafferty. Marc Thompson delivers yet another fantastic performance for this, a fine tribute to a vastly under appreciated movie, along with wonderful additional insights to its characters and scenes not in the film. The epilogue especially has strong ties to the overall Star Wars saga. Do not pass this up!

Extended Novelization if the Film, Expertly Narrated

This was an enjoyable novelization of the Solo film. It features expanded content that wasn't included in the film. Most notably Qu'ira's background and L3, including what happened to her after the Kessel run. Insight into the major characters enhanced the story. There is also a nice mini picture guide of stills from the film. It also strengthens the ties to the burgeoning rebel alliance. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. Marc Thompson is superb on the audiobook, beautifully capturing the story and characters. A wonderful adaptation of the film.
