Niebauer shows how findings in neuropsychology suggest that our sense of self is actually an illusion created by the left side of the brain and that it exists in the same way a mirage in the middle of the desert exists: as a thought rather than a thing.

Histoire
A revolutionary new diet program based on the latest science showing the importance of fat in weight loss and overall health, from New York Times number one best-selling author Mark Hyman. For decades we've been told that the fat we eat turns to fat in the body, contributing to weight gain, heart disease, diabetes, and generally poor health. And yet, even with all our low-fat products, we're fatter and sicker than ever before. What's going on? Could it be that the most feared food group is actually...the most helpful?
Description
If you struggle with binge eating, emotional eating, stress eating, or if you repeatedly manage to lose weight only to gain it all back, you may be approaching things with the wrong mindset.
Most contemporary thought on overeating and bingeing focuses on healing and self-love. But people who've overcome food and weight issues often report it was more like capturing and caging a rabid dog than learning to love their inner child...
Open the cage even an inch-or show that dog an ounce of fear-and it'll quickly burst out to shred your healthy eating plans, undoing all your progress in a heartbeat.
From his perspective as a formerly food-obsessed psychologist - and previous consultant to major food manufacturers - Dr. Livingston shares specific techniques for isolating and permanently dis-empowering your “fat thinking self”. He reveals much of his own personal journey in the process.
If despite your best intentions you find yourself in one or more of the following situations then this audiobook is for you...
- You've tried diet after diet with no permanent success...
- You constantly think about food and/or your weight...
- You feel driven to eat when you're not hungry (emotional overeating)...
- You sometimes feel you can't stop eating even though you're full...
- You sometimes feel guilty or ashamed of what you've eaten...
- You behave differently with food in private than you do when you're with other people...
- You feel the need to fast and/or severely restrict your food to “make up” for serious bouts of overeating...
Never Binge Again can help you:
- Dramatically improve your ability to stick to any healthy food plan so you can achieve your weight loss and/or fitness goals...
- Quickly recover from mistakes without self judgement or unnecessary guilt...
- Free yourself from the prison of food obsession so you can enjoy a satisfying, delicious, and healthy diet for the rest of your life!

Waste of time...
Basically tell yourself you are never going to binge again. Period. And when you feel like overeating it is your internal pig wanting you to overeat, so don't feed your inner pig. Absolute waste of time. Weird overdubbing of voice in the narration.

Give it a chance
Much of what you will hear in the book sounds ridiculous at first, but give it a chance. Be willing to see any resistance you have to the ideas as what the author would call “pig squeal.” Many reviews think the author is self-promoting, but nearly all of what he promotes is free! And why shouldn’t my he self promote? If you had a good idea, wouldn’t you? Stay in a helpless, I have no control, paradigm if you want, I’m going to take a shot at getting out of it with the ideas in this book. See ya!

Great new recording by the author
Although I have the ebook, I wanted the audio version too. I'm so glad Glenn decided to record it himself. I enjoy his voice. He has tough love, which is exactly what I need. I really liked hearing frequently the phrase "you will never binge again". It seems to have stuck in my head more this time hearing it rather than reading it. I feel empowered that my moment to be healthy is NOW, which makes me more determined to cage that pig.

I expected better.
I hate to say this but this book is not worth to spend money on. Just get the free book on the never binge again. Just a fair warning the LAST SEVEN hours of this book is just the author and clients interviews of trying to be better. It's not even the actual book. Which I feel it's kind of a waste of time for me. The author reading his own book isn't that bad, He's not awful at it. But I think I would have rathered someone else because sometimes he sounds very full of it. There are a lot of techniques in here that seem helpful and I definitely will use them. Because I appreciated his view on not actually cutting everything good out of your life but just putting them in conditions. his whole list of things you'll eat, things you'll never eat, and things you'll eat on conditions. I think was a very great idea! I believe that would help you not binge more than anything. However, it was kind of the only thing I found helpful...
It was hard to pay attention sometimes because honestly he was promoting his website so much that it just got irritating. At one point I didn't even want to listen anymore because I was just like okay I get it you want us to go to your website!! ugh... I feel like if you wanted to promote his website then he could have done it at the beginning of the book and at the end. Not almost every other freaking paragraph that's got so annoying!
I think that if you go to the website and get the free ebook or PDF to download of the book then that's a good idea. I think it is worth a quick read because there are some tools and information in this book that are helpful. However, save your money and don't buy the audiobook. Because I don't think it's worth it.

Things you already know but sometimes need to hear
Make a plan, establish rules and commit 100 percent. Don't be seduced by your inner pig/pig squeals/pig slop. Tackle now, not later. It doesn't matter how long you stay compliant because that is the expectation. Don't use food as motivation or as a reward. You have 100 percent of the control no matter what situation you are in. Don't allow other to manipulate the plan and rules you set for yourself. It doesn't matter what causes you to binge because if you do what is listed you will never binge again. Now do it! #You'reWelcome

Hard to get past the cringey "pig noises"
I had to stop listening to this because I couldnt stand to hear the author make that squeaky "yipee!" narration whenever he was describing his inner pig. I get it, its funny like one time but after a while it gets insufferable and distracting.
The book lacked thorough scientific evidence to why we as humans binge on food, most info was based on subjective claims.
I'll be on the lookout for another book with useful tips.
