  • Ep. 107: Persons Unknown
    Feb 5 2026

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 107th episode of VideoFuzzy titled "Persons Unknown," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

"Persons Unknown" was a short-run summer series in 2010 on NBC, archived across now three binders in my collection, including an episode that never aired, archived to my current collection, as well as a home-burned disc set I crafted while watching them for this feature, which has also been posted to VideoFuzzy's YouTube channel as my 15th ever VideoFuzzy the Video: https://youtu.be/X0j2mMfjFng

In Cross Connections, I track connections through the cast of "Persons Unknown" as well as Barry Bostwick, Chi McBride, Aldis Hodge, Chris Gaultier, Colin Mochrie, Danny Strong, John Billingsley, Erik Charles Nielsen and Charissa Barton. Under Fond Reflection, I celebrate the life and work of Catherine O'Hara as a Golden Thread in my collection.

In my Classic Collection [VHS-to-DVD transfers], this set covered discs 1951-1975. An extension of strange coincidence I outlined last time, this was just the craziest set of circumstances, a search for a couple of ads that turned up in my collection came up empty so they ended up on VideoFuzzy's Instagram. That search, however, did turn up the final two episodes of "Strange Luck," a mid-'90s FOX production, these two on the YouTube channel @OASMovies-gw5tz and also posted within the past year. Wild!

Also, Isabella Rossellini explored the sex lives of bedbugs on the Sundance channel, which showed up as a clip and some commentary on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," a staticky copy of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," and Jensen Ackles lip-syncing to Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" in the credit sequence for a fourth-season episode of "Supernatural." https://bit.ly/3MkLSmd

In my Current Collection [direct to digital], I added the two episodes of "Strange Luck" that I found, along with a classic production of Agatha Christie's "The Seven Dials Mystery" from 1981 on AcornTV as well as the three-part Netflix adaptation. Also, comments on "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," issues with tubi's production of "Doctor Who," and Jack Smith's testimony to the House Judiciary Committee and comments from there.

In Book Reports, I've been walking a lot more and reading a lot of authors through my audible account. I've read three by Sophie Hannah, a short story collection by Agatha Christie and one each by Riley Sager, Marthe Jocelyn, Maureen Johnson and this one I'll recommend highly, "Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death" by M.C. Beaton, which was absolutely delightful.

Finally, in What I've Been Watching, my husband, Ralph, and I just finished watching "My Hero Academia," I've encountered a few episodes of "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries," and over new year's I took in "Marty Supreme." Fun!

  • Ep. 106: NERD SHOW!
    Dec 8 2025

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 106th episode of VideoFuzzy titled "NERD SHOW!" reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

The title comes from my Fuzzy Feature, episodes of The History Channel's "The Universe" that turned up in my cataloging efforts including "The Seven Wonders of The Solar System," "Extreme Energy," "Light Speed" and "Time Travel."

In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by Savion Glover on The Colbert Report, Seth MacFarlane and Pamela Anderson at the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff. Also Dean Norris, Neil Grayston, René Auberjonois, Rhea Perlman, Bruno Campos, Tom Skerritt, Bob Gunton, Michael Rappaport, Robert Wisdom, Gregory Itzen, Jean Smart, John Michael Higgins and John Cena. I identify Robert Patrick of "Peacemaker" as a Golden Thread in my collection.

Finally, I follow an appearance by Derek Hamilton in "Psych" to his appearance in mid-'90s FOX production "Strange Luck," which lead me on a journey that turned up 15 episodes of that show on a YouTube channel called "Videos and Memories" (https://www.youtube.com/@VideosandMemories-h9c)

In my Classic Collection [VHS-to-DVD transfers] this set covered discs 1926-1950. I found interviews with photographer Doug Beasley and artist Andy DuCett on "Minnesota Original," shared to VideoFuzzy's Instagram. I note the passing of Jamaican artist Jimmy Cliff's passing, his having appeared on The Colbert Report archived to disc 1926. Also, comments on "Psych," "Tosh.0," "The Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," "Kids in the Hall" and their 2010-era effort "Death Takes a Holiday."

In Book Reports, I note author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan's third installment in the ghostwriter mystery series "Sweet Spot" is now available for preorder, and talk about "The Woman in Cabin 10" by Ruth Ware, an author I learned of through his production with late, fondly remembered cohost Catherine Brobeck.

In my Current Collection [direct to digital], spoiler-free comments on "Schitt's Creek," "Only Murders in the Building" and "Peacemaker" (second season opening sequence: https://youtu.be/xS11-GIemXY). Also P!nk's "I'm Not Dead" concert from 2007 and commentary on indy Canticle production "End of the Rope" (2023) Other movies I watched include "Coco," "Noises Off," "Cocaine Bear," "Let's Kill Ward's Wife," "Bros," "Spoiler Alert," "M3GAN," "The Fifth Element," "In Time," "Black Adam," "Sorry to Bother You," "Fritz the Cat," "Labyrinth," "The Dark Crystal," and may I HIGHLY recommend psychological spy thriller "Black Box" with Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett. Finally, I note with some irritation changes to tubi's presentation of classic "Doctor Who."

In What I've Been Watching, watch for "Knives Out 3: Wake Up, Dead Man" on Netflix. Also, spoiler-free comments on "Wicked: For Good" and "Zootopia 2."

And having found that YouTube channel, here's where I dig into "Strange Luck," the unlikely set of circumstances that led me to it, my astonishment at finding it at all and how enjoyable I found it to be after all these years. Also, a cheerful little coincidence that led me to a comment about coincidences themselves in an episode of the "All About Agatha" podcast's back catalog, also shared to VideoFuzzy's Instagram page.

  • Ep. 105: Happy Town 2
    Sep 18 2025

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 105th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

My Fuzzy Feature is "Happy Town 2," following up from "Ep. 101: Happy Town" after the balance of those episodes turned up in my classic collection, and I archived the two that only aired online to my current collection.

This set covers discs 1901 to 1925 in my Classic Collection. My Fuzzy Feature represents a look back at discs 1820, 1825, 1834, 1835, 1861, 1868, 1878 and disc X549 from my current collection, along with my 14th-ever "VideoFuzzy the Video" posted here: https://youtu.be/c3nd-ra93Zo

Cross Connections through the mystical centers of my media collection -- Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Joss Whedon productions, Six Feet Under and Ryan Murphy Productions -- are Studio Whedon Under Murph or SWUM, and "Happy Town" was a nexus for all of them. Also appearing in this set: Joe Koppinger, Jade Tailor, Rutger Hauer, Anthony Stewart Head, Kylie Minogue, Matt Lucas, Weird Al Yankovic, Richard Kind, Burt Reynolds, Steven Culp, Alan Ruck and Garrett Dillahunt.

In Book Report, I got my home library set up and added books by Lucy Foley, Nita Prose, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Ngaio Marsh, Sophie Hannah and Ellis Peters.

In my Classic Collection, I chat with my Minot theater friend Joe Koppinger about his work in the third season "Leverage" production "The Studio Job," our time on stage together and what he's done since, including his comic book, collectible and pop culture discussion YouTube channel "Crazy Hungarian" at https://bit.ly/4nvbLfY. Also, comments on "The Glades," "Rizzoli and Isles," "Covert Affairs," "Haven" and "Doctor Who" among others, including "The Universe" and "Parks and Rec." Also, getting my home office up to speed and filling gaps in my commercial media.

In my Current Collection, along with the final web-released entries of "Happy Town," I archived the two short seasons of "Galavant" and so far about three seasons of "Schitt's Creek," both released on hulu, and "Queens of Mystery" off Utah Public Television.

Also, I had a couple dozen music videos by artist DJ Benjamin Koll. I'd chatted with him for my world music VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack "Ep. 14: Osito," and I included the second part of that conversation here under Video Outreach, talking about his music videos, posted to his YouTube channel at https://bit.ly/4627Hys, and I chat a bit about the bear culture we reference.

In Off the Shelf, I go off the rails a bit with comments on the 1996 Peter Falk, Woody Allen production of Neil Simon's "The Sunshine Boys." Also, in Old Business I chat about a DVD of Grand Jubilee performances from Branson, Mo., and a box set of remastered Rodgers & Hammerstein Classics I found when I was clearing my mom's space last spring.

In What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I got to Seth MacFarlane's "Naked Gun" reboot, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, James Gunn's "Superman," and the invention of something called a "musical" at the Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where Ralph and I took in the hilarious Shakespeare-themed comedy, "Something Rotten."

    Sep 15 2025

Hiya! I'm Terry J. Aman, host of VideoFuzzy, your source for media, commentary and nostalgia, and in Ep. 105: Happy Town 2, I pick up from my commentary in ep. 101 and dig into this mysterious, foreboding and frankly weird little town in Minnesota, where people go missing and honestly, may be better off. A friend of mine from my Minot theater days appeared in a third-season episode of TNT's "Leverage." I talk music videos in part 2 of my conversation with Guadalajaran artist and DJ Benjamin Koll. Comments on "The Glades," "Rizzoli & Isles," "Covert Affairs," "Haven" and "Doctor Who." I finally got my home office and library set up so there's some book reports to share, and we got out to see a couple movies and a play. Lots going on here, and for all this and more, add, follow and subscribe to VideoFuzzy, wherever you get your podcasts. Happy viewing!

  • Ep. 104: He Who Is Groovy, Must Be in My Movie
    Jun 29 2025

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 104th episode and celebrating eight solid years of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings.

This set covers discs 1876 to 1900 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature, from Disc 1879, I conference with friend and friend of the show Jesse Zimmerman to watch and then comment on "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny."

Cross Connections I trace "Pick of Destiny" actors Jack Black, Kyle Gass, Amy Poehler, Paul F. Tompkins and Dave Grohl, as well as Navi Rawat, Allison Brie, Vivica A. Fox and Giancarlo Esposito.

In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD transfers), comments on "100 Questions," "Persons Unknown," "Happy Town," "Doctor Who" and the 2001 Johnny Depp movie "From Hell."

In my Current Collection (direct to digital), I have resumed archiving productions including "Doctor Who," "Towards Zero" and a few other Agatha Christie adaptations, as well as PBS "Queens of Mystery." Also remembering Linda Lavin in "Alice" and "Midcentury Modern," and Val Kilmer in "Riddle," and I step outside the format to celebrate the faithful service of a VHS-to-DVD dubber that did not survive the journey to our new home.

I dive back into my interview with Jesse to chat about the "Doctor Who" finale and possibly final seasons, then share some thoughts from the first season finale.

Finally, I celebrate eight years of VideoFuzzy by revisiting interviews I've featured over the years. Thank you once again to Kymn Files, Nancy Pearson, Nathan Irwin, Jesse Zimmerman, Marc Bailey, Austin Tichenor, Erin Weichel, Kirk Nybakken, Brad Johnson, Derek Pich, Schatzy Eichmann and my sister, Patti Ellingson. Thank you all so much for your time, your insights and the energy you shared with me in this effort.
