Nonsense with cj little & Jeff Parker

De : cj little and Jeff Parker
  • Résumé

  • Nonsense desperately tries to make sense of today’s business, technology, and (sometimes) entertainment headlines. Not too serious and occasionally funny, join technologist cj little and leggy blonde Jeff Parker for their unique take on the past week. While we can’t promise you’ll laugh every week, we can promise you’ll learn something new (and maybe even interesting) New episodes drop every Thursday morning (UTC). Produced by an orangutan; art thanks to artificial intelligence. https://nonsense.productions Twitter: @nnsnspdcst Instagram: @nnsnspdcst Gmail: nnsnspdcst@gmail.com

While we certainly believe in higher education, continuous learning, and a healthy, constant curiosity, it is hard not to recognize that more and more job opportunities have made college a prerequisite to applying. In this episode the boys discuss the cost of college, how it has changed over the past few decades, and some thoughtful considerations to make before plowing ahead into your freshman year. Coming out of that, cj retells the play-by-play of two recent hockey games in real time. Why? No one knows. Coming out of that, cj retells the play-by-play of two recent hockey games in real time. And this time, what comes before college is not high school, but instead a couple of headlines: Apple’s trash ends up for sale; Russian GPS jamming; the TikTok “ban” becomes real; selling our Costco gold; and how NOT to use regex’s - the Twitter edition. And if during that time you wondered why the pretty box of Sudafed PE you just bought from your local drugstore didn’t seem to work very well, then this episode is for you. See, you are not alone, dear listener. As it turns out, phenylephrine, the active ingredient in the only decongestant you can get these days that’s not behind the counter, is just plain ol’ ineffective. In this episode, we explore how phenylephrine, this effectively useless “drug,” ended up all over the shelves of your local drugstore. But before that, we have some stories about Tesla (big surprise!), Musk's pay, Live Nation’s monopoly (surprise!), and what’s going on with iPhone sales. Wowzers, did you know there was a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE this week?! Well, if you are one of the three people in North America who DIDN’T know this happened on Monday, the guys will get you caught up with their eclipse antics in the first 15 minutes of today’s episode!

Somehow they do find a couple minutes to talk about a couple of fun headlines from this week, including Boeing’s latest headache (a whistleblower on the 787 Dreamliner) and Waymo’s robotaxi service is finally green-lit in Los Angeles!

And instead of highlighting “the best thing they’ve seen or read this week” (the best thing both cj & Jeff had seen this week was certainly the total solar eclipse!), they instead opt to answer two fantastic questions sent in via voice message from a Nonsense listener! Thanks PG!
