War of the Submarine

A band of modern-day pirates station-hops across the Indian Ocean. Each attack bolder and more costly than the last, these pirates leave behind a trail of broken bodies, businesses, and stolen submarines at every undersea station they visit—and it’s up to Lieutenant Commander Alex Coleman and USS Kansas (SSN 810) to stop them.

It’s 2037, and Alex is one more disobeyed order away from kissing his naval career goodbye. He used to be high speed, the kind of officer on the fast track to submarine command. Then he threw it all away trying to save a few civilian lives from his glory hungry commanding officer.

Alex Coleman had a chance to end World War III before it started. Instead, he lost an unwinnable battle. Now, he finally has command of his own submarine, but USS Jimmy Carter is old enough to drink, his crew is a few beers short of a six pack, and no one—particularly the admiral who hates him—expects him to make a difference.

Commander Kurt Kins loves a challenge. But this might be the one he and his crew can’t beat. By 2039, the United States is a year and a half into World War III. Submarine meets submarine beneath the waves, and one out of every three American subs deployed isn’t coming home. Commander Kurt Kins and USS Darter, however, seem to have a magic touch—they’ve been among the best of the best from the start. Kins loves action and he’s never backed down from a challenge. Faced with clever Russian enemies who are out to make their nation a superpower once more, he knows he has his work cut out for him.
