"Fantomas" is a novel by French writers Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre. Since the novel's creation, Fantomas is one of the most popular characters in the history of French crime fiction. Fantomas is a ruthless and elusive criminal genius who can get away with his evil deeds by impersonating anyone. He is a master of disguise, always appearing under an assumed identity, often that of a person he murdered. His manners of killing are unusual: he may use plague-infested rats, giant snakes, and rooms that fill with sand.
