À propos de cette écoute

What happens after the experiences of true crime survivors have been shared with the world? Does the media truly capture all it entails to survive such tragedy in the public eye? What comes after the convictions are in, the cameras stop rolling, and the court of public opinion has spoken? Can sharing our stories lead to justice, and is there ever really justice?

These questions and many more are discussed on the new true crime docuseries podcast brought to you by Broken Cycle Media.

What Came Next is co-created and produced by Something Was Wrong’s Tiffany Reese and host, award-winning writer, victim advocate and true crime survivor Amy B. Chesler.

On What Came Next, you’ll hear firsthand accounts from those impacted, with behind the scenes insights about what came next for survivors after their stories were shared with the world, and how the media impacts crime victims and their loved ones.Broken Cycle Media

    • 135: [Jenn Holman] There Is a Softer Life
      Aug 1 2025
Content Warning: infidelity, physical abuse, intimate partner violence, domestic violence, and murder.

Jenn Holman is a survivor, mother, and faithful family woman living in Idaho by way of Southern California. Our paths first crossed over eighteen years ago, when she began dating my brother (whom she has chosen to address as Jesse in this episode, although I have referred to him as ‘Rory’ in the past). Her relationship with Jesse began a year and a few months prior to my mother’s murder, and although I was privy to a portion of what Jenn will share in this conversation, some of the more explicit details of the abuse she faced evaded us as a family. Through this interview, I've also now learned a lot more about the night my mom was murdered. I commend her bravery in sharing, and am personally, deeply grateful she was willing to divulge so much with us today. It may have taken us nearly eighteen years to have this conversation, but as Hippocrates said, “Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.”

    • 134: [Norma Buster] Full Circle
      Jul 25 2025
Content warning: suicidal ideation, suicide, image-based sexual abuse, coercion, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking.

Norma Buster is a survivor, speaker, podcaster, and Chief of Staff at C.A. Goldberg Law, a Brooklyn-based victims rights law firm. Norma grew up with a passion for fashion, but after experiencing harassment and image-based sexual abuse at a pivotal point in her life, Norma was inspired to help other victims. She does so in her position at the legal firm, and she also continues that mission with her speaking and podcasting efforts. Her show, Oral Arguments, is geared towards sex positivity and empowerment, especially in relation to tech and victims rights. The Broken Cycle Media team is incredibly grateful for Norma’s advocacy work, as well as her candidness throughout this very empowering, illuminating conversation.

    • 133: [Megan AKA Fallon] One Heck of a Journey
      Jul 18 2025
Content warning: coercion, blackmail, extortion, abduction, kidnapping, slavery, sociopathy, psychopathy, intimate partner violence, and attempted murder.

Megan is a loving family woman, equestrian, and survivor of abduction and attempted slavery born in Southern California. Although Megan spent many of her younger years growing her love for horses at her family’s idyllic Colorado stable, her life prior was anything but calm. In fact, Megan was originally named Fallon Daniel, and on November 21st, 1985, Megan’s birth father would attempt to extort $90,000 from the couple who would eventually adopt and raise her. After an unprecedented case that took the media by storm, Megan has joined us to share about all that’s come next for her in her journey and healing. The Broken Cycle Media team is undeniably grateful for my friend’s candor and advocacy, especially as this is the first time she’s shared her story at-large. We are also grateful for Megan’s mother, Susan, who was willing to join us for a short chat, which you will hear within this episode as well.
