We've been talking about the "6 Best Ways to Support Your Child as They Make Their Own Way." I consider today's way, the 6th way, the most important.
When you think of supporting your child the focus is always on your child - you ask yourself, 'what can I do for my child?' or 'how can I ensure my child grows up well?'
To best support your child, though, you have to start with yourself. You want to give to your child, but it's important to remember that what you give has to be the overflow from your full cup. If your cup of what you need to be your best self isn't full, then you're essentially giving what you don't have.
The trick is to fill your cup with what you need. Each mom's needs are different, based on their energy, their body, their spirit, their nature. So you may not need what your friend thinks you need, or what your friend needs.
