  • "Sprouting clumps of mushrooms like a world surreal, this dream won't ever, ever end, and time seems like it'll never begin" this week we look at a compilation from PERE UBU called Terminal Tower: An Archival Collection (1985)

Terminal Tower: An Archival Collection is a compilation album by American rockband Pere Ubu. Released in 1985, the album compiles several of the band's early singles and B-sides, including the Hearthan singles recorded with founder Peter Laughner that were initially compiled on the Datapanik in Year Zero EP, and continuing through later sides recorded with Mayo Thompson.

The original Rough Trade UK LP was fine, but the American Twin Tone LP and CD both played at slightly slow speed (about a half-tone flat) throughout, had the left and right channels reversed and suffered from generally poor sound compared to the UK LP or the US singles. Most of the compilation was properly remastered for the Datapanik in the Year Zero box set, and all subsequent individual reissues of the compilation have used that corrected master.

Licensed to Ill is the debut studio album by the American hip hop group Beastie Boys, released on November 15, 1986, by Def Jam and Columbia Records. The album became the first rap LP to top the Billboard 200 chart, and was the second rap album to be certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is one of Columbia Records' fastest-selling debut records to date and was certified Diamondby the RIAA in 2015 for shipping over ten million copies in the United States.[1] The album received critical acclaim for its unique musical style, chemistry between the group members, and their stylized rapping. Since its release, Licensed to Ill has been ranked by critics as one of the greatest hip hop and debut albums of all time.

Unknown Pleasures is the debut studio album by the English rock band Joy Division. It was released on 15 June 1979 through Factory Records.[4] The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April 1979, with producer Martin Hannett contributing a number of unconventional recording techniques to the group's sound. The cover artwork was designed by artist Peter Saville, using a data plot of signals from a radio pulsar.[5] It is the only Joy Division album released during lead singer Ian Curtis's lifetime.

So Far, So Good... So What! is the third studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on January 19, 1988, by Capitol Records.[1] It was the band's only album recorded with drummer Chuck Behler and guitarist Jeff Young, both of whom were fired from the band in early 1989, several months after the completion of the album's world tour. So Far, So Good... So What! features music performed at fast tempos with technical ability; lyrically, frontman and guitarist Dave Mustaine addresses a variety of topics, including nuclear holocaust and freedom of speech.

  • John, we're only podcasting AGAIN! Following up from last season, we bring back Colby to listen to a sequel compilation of DAVID BOWIE songs, CHANGESTWOBOWIE (1981)
    Jul 1 2025

    Send us a text

Changestwobowie is a compilation album by English rock musician David Bowie, issued in November 1981 through RCA Records.[5] It is a companion volume to the 1976 compilation Changesonebowie, and its title and artwork follow the format of that album.

In addition to selected post-1976 singles, the album collected five songs from earlier in Bowie's career that had not appeared on Changesonebowie, including "Wild Is the Wind" from Station to Station, which was released as a single to promote the album, along with a newly filmed video for the track.[6] However, the album did not repeat the chart success of the earlier compilation, reaching No. 24[7] on the UK Album Chart and No. 68 in the United States.

Point Blank is the only studio album by heavy metal band Nailbomb, released on March 8, 1994, by Roadrunner Records. The side project was started by Max Cavalera and Alex Newport in the mid-1990s. Part of the first track, "Wasting Away", plays in the 1995 film To Die For.

The album cover is a photo of female Vietnamese civilian with a U.S. soldier's gun to her head, which Max Cavalera and Alex Newport retrieved from the Alternative Associated Press. Cavalera stated that they wanted to create a similar cover to Rage Against the Machine's self titled album, an image of the self immolation of Thích Quảng Đức. According to Cavalera, the woman in the cover lived after the photo was taken.[6]
