À propos de cette écoute
In episode 4, we delve into Quebec's historic decision on May 27, 2025, when the National Assembly unanimously voted to sever all ties with the British monarchy, on the day the King was visiting Canada to give his first Throne Speech! This motion, introduced by Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, garnered support from all 106 Members of the National Assembly, including those from the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) .
While interim PLQ leader Marc Tanguay explained the party's support for the motion, stating that it was largely symbolic and did not entail constitutional changes, this development coincides with the PLQ's leadership race, set to conclude between June 9 and 14, 2025.
Join us as we analyze the implications of Quebec's move away from the monarchy, the PLQ's evolving stance, and what Quebecers are seeking in their next Liberal leader.
