FUCK THE PINK RIBBON.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and PLOT TWIST: STILL ALIVE is kicking off Season 2 by going beyond the pink shit and talking about what people should ACTUALLY be aware of.

At just 37, Marissa was a wife and mom of two kids under five when stomach issues and blood in her stool led to a diagnosis she never saw coming:

COLON CANCER.

Unfortunately... that was just the opening scene.

Genetic testing revealed links to multiple hereditary cancers—including BRCA—and suddenly family secrets nobody even knew existed started looking a whole lot more sinister.

And the further she went down the genetic rabbit hole, the scarier life became.

Before ever hearing the words YOU HAVE BREAST CANCER, Marissa faced an impossible choice: amputate her breasts before they became the next sacrifice.

Turns out, her DNA came with its own fucking horror franchise.

Krystal and Marissa talk cancer, genetic testing, preventative mastectomy, motherhood, reopening grief, and the absolute mindfuck of discovering...

SURPRISE! YOU’RE A MUTANT.

But Marissa took some of the darkest shit life handed her and turned it into something bigger—advocating, educating, and helping other families understand what could be hiding in their own DNA.

Because Breast Cancer Awareness Month should be about a hell of a lot more than pink ribbons.

Sometimes the monster isn’t hiding under your bed.

It’s hiding in your bloodline.

SEASON FINALE: PLOT TWIST…WE DID IT LIVE

Well, we made it through an entire season without getting canceled, sued, or asked to leave the internet…so naturally, we celebrated by going LIVE.

For the Season One finale of PLOT TWIST: STILL ALIVE, Krystal with a K is joined by Adam, Stacy, and Maire for a completely unfiltered look back at the stories, chaos, dark humor, and WTF moments that made this season what it was.

And because apparently none of us understand the concept of keeping things private, there are SPOILERS. A lot of them.

We’re talking favorite episodes, behind-the-scenes moments, FUCK IT LIST adventures, trolls, swingers (because somehow we always end up back at swingers), the moments that hit us the hardest, the ones that made us laugh until we couldn’t breathe, and some shit we probably should have saved for Season Two.

This isn’t a polished little “thank you for a wonderful season” finale.

It’s four people, one LIVE show, absolutely no filter, and a celebration of what PLOT TWIST has been about from the beginning: surviving the shit you never saw coming, finding people who fucking get it, and learning to laugh somewhere between the trauma and the plot twist.

Season One gave us cancer, grief, toxic relationships, caregiving, survival, trolls, questionable decisions, dead toes, FUCK IT LISTS, and apparently…a surprising amount of swinger content.

And somehow?

WE’RE STILL ALIVE.

Thank you for watching, listening, sharing, commenting, laughing, crying, trauma bonding, and helping turn this beautifully unhinged little podcast into something bigger than I ever imagined.

Now buckle the fuck up.

Because Season Two is coming.

⚠️ WARNING: This episode contains adult language, dark humor, major spoilers from Season One, conversations about trauma and cancer, and enough inappropriate commentary to remind you exactly why this podcast is 18+.

What doesn’t kill you makes you fucking hilarious.

Okay, calm down.

Season One is coming to an end, but Plot Twist: Still Alive is NOT going anywhere.

I’m taking THIS WEEK off for a much-needed SEESTER WEEKEND because I tell y’all to LIVE LIFE… so imma fucking do it.

BUT NEXT WEEK… IT’S ALIVE.

Join us NEXT WEDNESDAY at 7 PM EST for our very first LIVE episode and the SEASON ONE FINALE on YouTube LIVE.

We’re bringing back previous guests, catching up on where they are now, hearing their thoughts on each other’s episodes, and taking YOUR questions live.

Have a question for me or one of our guests? Want to share YOUR plot twist? Drop it in the YouTube chat during the LIVE.

And if you can’t make it live, don’t worry—the episode will be available on all of our usual podcast platforms afterward.

So yes…

RIP SEASON ONE.

But don't get too comfortable.

IT’S ALIVE.

We talk a lot about the dark plot twists around here.

The diagnosis. The trauma. The loss. The moment life splits into BEFORE and AFTER.

But what the fuck happens AFTER?

Stacy was just 31 when breast cancer became her plot twist. Cancer changed her body, her plans and the woman she thought she was.

But this episode isn't really about cancer.

It's about what happened next.

Trying to figure out who the hell she was again, Stacy took a solo trip with no plan, no itinerary and NO FUCKING CLUE it was about to change her entire life.

She got outside. Into nature. Out of her comfort zone. And somewhere along the way, she stopped trying to find the woman she was before cancer—and started discovering who she wanted to be AFTER it.

That adventure became SEEK YOUR EPIC, the stories Stacy now shares through her Substack about adventure, nature, fear, growth and figuring yourself out somewhere along the way.

Because surviving the darkness is one thing.

Figuring out how you want to LIVE after it? That's a whole different adventure.

And PLOT TWIST...that adventure is leading Stacy somewhere pretty fucking EPIC.

We give you a little peek into what we're building together with Happily EPIC After—but you'll have to come find out the rest.

⚠️ 18+ WARNING: F-bombs, inappropriate jokes, dark humor, conversations about cancer, disease and loss...and shitting in a hole. Because apparently finding your EPIC isn't always glamorous.

WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU FUCKING HILARIOUS.

Usually I write this shit in third person…but this one feels different.

If you haven’t listened to Frankentitties or Frankentitties 2 (back in the dark ages before we had video), consider this the condensed version of me.

In 2025, I stood on a stage in front of more than 400 people at the Pink Warrior Advocates Pink Prom Gala and read a letter I wrote to cancer.

“Dear Cancer” is about what cancer has taken from me.

But more importantly, it’s about what I CHOOSE to take from cancer.

Cancer has been the villain lurking in the background of my story for most of my life. It’s changed my body, stolen pieces of me, scared the absolute shit out of me, and left some scars that don’t show up in pictures.

But cancer does NOT define me.

Cancer doesn’t define ANY survivor.

And somewhere between being completely vulnerable on that stage, making people cry, making them laugh at shit we probably shouldn’t laugh at, and helping raise money for breast cancer warriors…I found something I didn’t even realize I was looking for.

This was the beginning of MY EPIC AFTER.

It remains one of the proudest moments of my life—and part of what inspired me to take this next adventure with Stace, my BREASTIE, and create Happily EPIC After.

So whether your monster was cancer, grief, abuse, loss, divorce, trauma, or another chapter you weren’t sure you’d survive…I hope you can take something from this too.

Because NO MATTER YOUR PLOT TWIST...

Your darkest moments don’t define you.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DOES.

So take something from it. Laugh when you probably shouldn’t. Do the scary shit. And figure out what you want the rest of your story to look like.

And never forget...

WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU FUCKING HILARIOUS.

Everyone dies.

Most of us spend our lives pretending we won't.

Maire (pronounced like Laura...but with an M) decided to make death her life's work.

It all started with a funeral and the unforgettable feeling of touching the cold, waxy hand of someone she loved. While most people spend the rest of their lives avoiding death, Maire became obsessed with understanding it.

Coming from a long line of physicians, everyone expected her to care for the living. Instead, her curiosity led her down a much darker path...into the world of morbid anatomy (or as the boring people call it...pathology).

From body snatching and grave robbers to the shocking laws that once allowed the bodies of unclaimed poor people to be dissected in the name of science, Maire dives into the fascinating, gruesome, and often disturbing history that shaped modern medicine and forensic science.

And apparently learning about dead people wasn't enough...

She volunteered at a Medical Examiner's Office.

For fun.

For free.

While most people would run screaming—or projectile vomit—Maire found purpose. Every autopsy, every case, and every person on the table deserved dignity, respect...and occasionally a healthy dose of dark humor.

At just 30 years old, her passion led her to Ireland, where she curated an entire museum exhibit on the history of anatomy and pathology. Today, she teaches college students that the dead may be some of our greatest teachers.

Ironically, just as she's on the verge of earning her doctorate, life has handed her a Plot Twist of her own. She opens up about the unexpected challenge she's facing and how spending a lifetime studying death has changed the way she's approaching life.

Because this episode isn't really about dying.

It's about what the dead continue to teach the living.

Visit our blog after the episode to explore photos from Maire's museum exhibit in Ireland, additional resources, and the fascinating history behind the stories discussed in this episode.

Meet our newest Master of Plot Twists...

Jamie was in her early 50s, celebrating the end of a long and rewarding teaching career and looking forward to retirement. She had plans. Adventures. Freedom. A brand-new chapter.

PLOT TWIST...

Just a few days after her retirement celebration, she went in for a mammogram after finding a lump.

Instead of planning vacations, she was planning Chemotherapy.

Instead of celebrating retirement, she was scheduling bloodwork, scans, surgeries, and learning an entirely new language no one ever wants to speak: Breast Cancer.

But Jamie refused to let Cancer write the final chapter.

After spending more than a year fighting for her life, she found herself asking a question so many survivors know all too well...

"Now who am I?"

Her friends suggested writing a book.

Jamie had another idea.

She didn't just want to tell her story...

She wanted to create a place where thousands of others could tell theirs.

Drawing on her experience as a podcast host for educators, Jamie launched Test Those Breasts—a podcast and nonprofit dedicated to educating, supporting, and empowering the Breast Cancer community through honest conversations with survivors, oncologists, Breast Surgeons, therapists, and advocates. She also partners with the Know Your Lemons Foundation to bring lifesaving breast health education to colleges and communities, making sure women AND men know how to recognize the signs of Breast Cancer and perform self-exams.

This episode is a reminder that early detection saves lives, survivorship doesn't end when treatment does, and sometimes life's biggest plot twists become the very thing that helps someone else survive theirs.

⚠️ WARNING: This episode contains adult language, dark humor, discussions about Breast Cancer, Chemotherapy, surgery, body image, and survivorship. As always, listener discretion is advised.

Our moms spent years telling us...

"DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS."

So naturally, Stace and Krystal with a K celebrated National Picnic Month by inviting complete strangers to join them for a picnic.

No script.
No plan.
Just a blanket, some snacks, and a whole lot of curiosity.

From life's biggest plot twists to love, loss, dreams, regrets, embarrassing moments, and yes...even nervous poops...this episode proves that every single person has a story worth hearing if you're willing to ask.

What started as a simple picnic quickly became a reminder that we're all a lot more alike than we think.

Oh...and somewhere between the charcuterie and complete strangers spilling their life stories...

The girls have a surprise.

Let's just say...

Sometimes the biggest plot twists aren't the ones you've already lived.

Sometimes they're the ones that are just beginning.

⚠️ WARNING: This episode contains adult language, inappropriate humor, discussions of nervous poops, and may convince you to start FUCKING picnicking with strangers more often.
