 We are excited to welcome Dr. Carmen Imes to the show this week. Dr. Imes is an associate professor of Old Testament at Biola University. She is well known for her love of the Bible and her desire to understand it well, and help others understand it well. We begin this episode by introducing Dr. Imes to the message of the Temple Restoration Project and the idea of living by faith over fitness. From there, she expands our understanding of what it means to be the image of God and the idea of bearing God’s name. She emphasizes why the Old Testament matters in understanding our identity and mission as God’s people. Our discussion focuses on how these ideas are essential to living by faith in who Christ is rather than attempting to increase faith in who we are. Carmen also introduces us to her new book, Becoming God’s Family: Why the Church Still Matters. Our conversation with Carmen is filled with great insight as she sheds new light on what it means to live by faith.
