À propos de cette écoute
What happens to smaller, rural hospitals and safety net institutions in a time of dwindling budgets? How do they stay innovative when they don't have the same resources as larger hospitals? Creating meaningful change takes a village and in this case, it's Lynn Barr, our special guest. She's the current MedPAC Commissioner (Medicare Payment Advisory Commission) and the founder of Caravan Health. She is an advocate for the health of underserved people in rural communities by ensuring strong reimbursement for federal programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. In this episode, we sat down with Lynn to learn more about her and the projects she's working on now. She told us how safety net hospitals impacted the lives of people in her community growing up — including hers!
You'll discover:
* How we fund these systems and infrastructure changes that help address these disparities
*We delve into the disparities that exist, and what can be done to increase access and care.
* How Lynn plans on leaving a lasting legacy
* Why she's funding 100 MPH online scholarships for rural providers at the University of California Berkeley

The Advancing Healthcare Innovation Show started with the idea of wanting to highlight stories of what healthcare innovation truly looks like in action. Our mission, highlight real people who are really innovating within healthcare. Guests include healthcare entrepreneurs, providers, payers, and professionals from the investment community. We showcase little wins as well as valuable lessons learned from setbacks through these interviews. The real innovators in healthcare are often the ones in the trenches doing the work with razor-sharp focus. We find these innovators and bring their stories to light.
