Elizabeth Bennet does not set out to manipulate people. It's merely the correct choice of words, accompanied by an engaging smile or a beseeching look that yields the most satisfactory results. The morning after the Netherfield ball, Lizzy dispenses with one unwelcome suitor to her hand so amicably and successfully that she sees no reason why she should not make use of her talent for tactful speeches and deal with other unwelcome suitors in the same deft manner.

Histoire
When Elizabeth finds Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy outside Netherfield, alone and at his most vulnerable, she must make a quick decision to bend the rules of propriety to help him or turn her back on someone in need. Her tender heart reaches out to him and his wounded one grabs hold of her well-intentioned support. Discovery changes the course of their lives as Elizabeth is forced to accept a reluctant proposal of marriage from this man whom she has just barely begun to respect.
Description
Mr. Bennet discovers his days are numbered, so he immediately begins to set his affairs - and his five unmarried daughters - in order. Knowing they will fare best should at least one of them find a suitable husband, he cannot refuse any respectable suitors.
The high-spirited Elizabeth suspects something isn't right in the halls of Longbourn, but nothing prepares her for a certain haughty gentleman from Derbyshire. While Mr. Darcy is exceedingly wealthy and handsome, in Elizabeth's eyes, he is also proud, high-handed, and insulting. And unfortunately, desperately in love with her.
Suddenly, Elizabeth is forced to rethink her previous opinions. And accept a choice she never had the chance to make.

Review on Unwilling by Elizabeth Adams
A delightful P&P variation. The pacing is good, and the characters well developed. I enjoyed Elizabeth Adams' writing style tremendously. I tend to find most P&P variations drag along the way as the story unfolds, but this one is very well-done. Of course, the author doesn't really dwell on unpleasant characters; there is no antagonists in the story: Lady Catherine and Wickham are nowhere to be seen, but the story itself is cleverly-plotted. It is different than any other P&P variations I have read before, and I have to admit that it outshines most of them.
The narrator has done a good job; at first I found it odd to have a male narrator , but it all turned out splendidly.

classic pride and prejudice vaguery
I loved the story, with Mr Bennett taking more control of his daughters future, so much so I was ok with the more worldly Jane marrying Mr Walker instead of the unreliable Mr Bingley.
The story starts in Hunsford with Elizabeth accepting Mr Darcy at the request of her ailing father.
We follow Elizabeth and Darcy from the seaside, to London and into the Friday month of their wedding, as they learn more about each other. Darcy learns more slowly about his pride and Elizabeth learns slowly to live him.
The epilogue is my favorite part.
The narration was great, with him changing voices for the different characters.

Another great story by Miss Adams
I really liked this story . Watching (or listening in this case) to Darcy & Elizabeth grow into a cherished love was very warm hearted . I loved the new Mr, Bennet & his silly wife . What a little vagary can do to a character is amazing
Although the narrator was very good & has a lovely speaking voice It was a little hard listening to Lizzy & Jane with a male voice trying to be feminine LOL 😆
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK

One of the best
I have read over 50 Pride and Prejudice companion novels. This has been one of my favorites. It is thoughtful and complete. I believed the character choices and the story was touching, humorous, and not predictable. I especially enjoyed the author’s choice for the ending. Thank you Ms. Adams.

I Absolutely Loved It!
In this Pride and Prejudice variation, Mr. Bennet receives some unwelcome news. His heart is failing and he doesn't have much time left. Knowing his daughters will be left destitute after his death he finally takes charge of his household. He orders all the girls to take lessons and act in a more respectable manner. Lizzy knows something has happened to her father, but is left in the dark as to the reason for the sudden lessons and new routines. When Darcy meets Lizzy visiting in Kent, he decides to ask Mr. Bennet for permission to court his daughter before he proposes. Knowing his days are numbered, Mr. Bennet makes a very strange request of Lizzy. I loved this variation! Mr. Bennet was so wonderful in it, and I loved how much of the book focused on him. I love a good makeover story and Mr. Bennet's reformation of his daughters felt like that. The romance between Lizzy and Darcy was so well done. Darcy's letters were so sweet and caring I rewound the story to listen to them again. The narration was well done, it made sense to have a male narrator since so much of the story was Mr. Bennet's. I would definitely read more by this author.

Satisfying Pride and Prejudice variation
This variation of P&P has some interesting changes. Mr. Bennett takes control of wife and silly daughters. Mrs. Bennett is more subdued. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett spice things up a little with one another. Jane has two good choices for husband. Elizabeth and Darcy get a chance to be together and learn more about one another. Darcy still ticks me off sometimes and Mrs. Bennett still acts silly sometimes, but it is really a good story with the main attractions being the love affair and marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy. The narration is good, but not brilliant. Men generally have a tough time performing female voices

It was Okay
The book started out very well and had me hooked, but it lost me with the after the marriage story. Although its not steamy by any means it went from proper to raunchy and I was not a fan. The male voice wasn't entertaining as it could have been.
