Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman sit across from each other every day...and they hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. Now they're up for the same promotion, and Lucy, usually a determined people pleaser, has had enough: it's time to take him down. But as the tension between Lucy and Joshua reaches its boiling point, it's clear that the real battle has only just begun....

Description
Two lives. Two loves. One impossible choice. From the number one New York Times best-selling author of the Reese’s Book Club Pick One Day in December...
“I read The Two Lives of Lydia Bird in a single sitting. What a beautiful, emotional gift Josie Silver has given us.” (Jodi Picoult)
Written with Josie Silver’s trademark warmth and wit, The Two Lives of Lydia Bird is a powerful and thrilling love story about the what-ifs that arise at life’s crossroads, and what happens when one woman is given a miraculous chance to answer them.
Lydia and Freddie. Freddie and Lydia. They’d been together for more than a decade and Lydia thought their love was indestructible. But she was wrong. On Lydia’s 28th birthday, Freddie died in a car accident.
So now it’s just Lydia, and all she wants is to hide indoors and sob until her eyes fall out. But Lydia knows that Freddie would want her to try to live fully, happily, even without him. So, enlisting the help of his best friend, Jonah, and her sister, Elle, she takes her first tentative steps into the world, open to life - and perhaps even love - again.
But then something inexplicable happens that gives her another chance at her old life with Freddie. A life where none of the tragic events of the past few months have happened.
Lydia is pulled again and again through the doorway to her past, living two lives, impossibly, at once. But there’s an emotional toll to returning to a world where Freddie, alive, still owns her heart. Because there’s someone in her new life, her real life, who wants her to stay.
Commentaires
"At its core, this is a story of love lost and individual growth. But it is also about love found and future happiness. While this is in many ways the complete opposite of Linda Holmes' Evvie Drake Starts Over, fans of that book will enjoy it." (Kirkus Reviews)
Silver's latest (after One Day in December) is a heartbreaking, poignant tale.... Through lush prose, expert plotting, and richly imagined characters, Silver offers an achingly real portrait of grief transposed with the character's intoxicating parallel universe. This will stay with readers long after the final page is turned." (Publishers Weekly)
"I read The Two Lives of Lydia Bird in a single sitting - crying, laughing, and rooting for the heroine, who reminds us that the people we love, and the people we lose, change us, and that who we are at the beginning of our story is never who we are at the end of it. What a beautiful, emotional gift Josie Silver has given us." (Jodi Picoult, New York Times best-selling author of Small Great Things and A Spark of Light)

Not really a love story
I liked parts of this book, but a lot of the book was told to me. I would have preferred to see and hear more of what happened with Lydia’s new love interest, as ultimately this is a story’s about her moving on. Instead we are told she is keeping in touch with this person and a description of their discussions without the actual scene. This caused parts to be very slow as I felt I was waiting for something, and when it finally arrived, the book ended.
The story had me in tears at times and was quite moving and powerful. But I didn’t love it, and I felt It was so close to a book I would love and rave about it , that this made it even more disappointing.

Depressing
Too depressing for me. I tried to find something redeeming in it for 7 chapters, but it just got progressively worse!

Bittersweet journey... Happy ending.
I love how Josie Silver tells a story, bringing the reader alongside the lives of her characters and inviting you to be part of their intimate circle as they experience the joys and heartbreaks of life. Lydia’s journey is one of heartbreak and healing, but more important is her final acceptance of the woman she’s become through her loss.

Josie Silver does a phenomenal job with her writing. This storyline is sad, navigating through loss of a loved one and how you can get pieces of yourself back. I just enjoy her writing.

Beautiful
Having been a huge fan of One Day in December I was beyond excited to hear about this book coming out, and the 15 months I waited was well worth it.
Knowing the premise of the story - a widow who delves into another world where her husband is still alive - hits close to home with our family, my sister specifically. I feel as though this could have been written for us, being incredibly close sisters, among other things within the story.
The amount of growing that Lydia does is incredible and very well recognized by the author Josie Silver. Her writing innately shows a character who has functionality but flaws, and who knows her shortcomings but also gives into temptation. These are very real emotions spliced throughout the book, of love and loss and confusion and grief and happiness and despondency. The amount of effort Silver goes into for her characters is incredible, and the story flows as though you are watching real humans in real time.
I am so happy to have listened to this book, especially by this narrator. Nothing in this seemed unbelievable or exaggerated to me, and it will be one I will be listening to again very soon.

Absolutely loved this book! Couldn’t stop listening. Such a wonderful read (listen). Couldn’t get enough of the story. I’d love a part 2 to see how her life with Jonah plays out.
