Good stories. Hugh Fraser is excellent but..

Emilia Fox is absolutely terrible. When she reads normally she's fine but when there's dialogue, it's painfully annoying. Took away from the story.

But Hugh Fraser is amazing as usual. Enjoyed his narration immensely.

Worth listening to and the narrators are amazing.

Well I found out where the game clue came from A Murder is announced. These stories are timeless.

    Mixed feelings

The Secret of Chimneys is probably my favorite Christie book and this was an excellent performance. A Murder is Announced is way down in the list. It doesn’t seem to be as well written to me. Some of the voice characterizations drove me nuts.

    Narrators

Hugh Fraser and Emilia Fox are the best for Christie books. Both were twisty and fun!

    Loved and liked

I loved The Secret of Chimneys and I liked A Murder is Announced. I think the latter was built up as one of the best Miss Marple’s, but I was rather let down. It was jumbled. Chimneys was very interesting and engaging. I also preferred the first narrator to the second, but only because a few characters were particularly annoying in Announced - to the point that I was hoping they’d be the ones killed off.

    Miss Marple Great

Always a pleasure to read Agatha Christie's novels but hearing the suspense on audio is even better. Looking forward to listening to more of her books.

Hugh Fraser is excellent, but Emilia Fox not so much

I enjoyed hearing both of these stories of Agatha Christie’s very much. Hugh Fraser Does a fantastic job reading the story and his voice is lovely and sonorous. It’s also quite nice to imagine him as Hastings in the Poirot television adaptations. However, while Emilia Fox’s narration is perfectly fine, the voices she gives to the characters is grating at times. Not only in terms of tone, but the inflection and interpretation is rather flat. I particularly take issue with Bunch’s portrayal, who, rather than being jolly and playful, is portrayed as silly and rather nasal. Oof!
