Le plus pertinent
Very introspective compared to the English literature of the same time, this novel is a clear act creating a border between prude England and modern America. Less snob, aware of the excess of moralism, it is a declaration of Independence from British Litterature.
Unfortunately the reader is a bit boring and the voice he takes to read the child's lines is annoying.
Still a great and useful novel.
