    • S3 E4 Mortgage on an Employment Contract With Senior Mortgage Broker, Gemma Bennett
      Apr 3 2024

Welcome to April’s episode, where guest host Gemma Bennett, Senior Broker at The Mortgage Mum, takes time to discuss getting mortgage ready when you have a fixed term, temporary or zero hours employment contract.

Being employed doesn’t look the same for everyone and if you have an employment contract that isn’t considered permanent, you may need to consider a few extra elements to help lenders understand your current and future income, when it comes to applying for a mortgage.

Since working in the mortgage industry Gemma has seen just how varied lenders are in their approaches to contract workers and uses this podcast episode to give you an overview of things to consider and how to get yourself in the best position.

Essentially it comes down to offering the lenders as much evidenced security of your income levels as we can. We do this by looking both back at your recent employment history and forward when it comes to non permanent contracted employment.

Gemma hopes she can shed some light on what’s required and what is most helpful if you’re in this position. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

Gemma is an award-winning senior broker at the mortgage mum and can be contacted on Gemma@themortgagemum.co.uk

    • S3 E2 Becoming a Mortgage Broker - our journeys to becoming Mortgage Mums with Sally Mitchell, Katrina Horstead and Kim Balasubramaniam
      Feb 7 2024

In our new episode on The Mortgage Mum Podcast, we are joined by three of our Mortgage Mums - Sally Mitchell (Senior Mortgage Broker and Business Manager), Katrina Horstead (Mortgage Broker) and Kim Balasubramaniam (Senior Mortgage Broker).

Each with a very different story, Sally, Katrina and Kim talk through their unique back stories including how they became Mortgage Brokers and how they landed their roles at The Mortgage Mum. They talk about their background, how they discovered The Mortgage Mum, getting qualified and more. They talk about how being a mortgage broker is a true "human" job, listening to real people and understanding their circumstances. It's beyond numbers, it's interesting and exciting.

Proving that you don't have to have a background in Financial Services, we hope their inspiring journeys can show that you can create a flexible work and life balance as a broker. Not all of our brokers are parents, but those that are, make this career work around their families.

Mortgage brokers are a huge part of anyone's property-purchase. The Mortgage Mum brokers specifically are there every step of the way. They build real relationships and their invaluable life experience really shapes the much needed positive, patient, kind and empathetic attitude the mortgage industry needs, all of which we believe contributes to being a successful mortgage broker.
