Description

A surprising and gripping sci-fi thriller with a killer twist

The daughter of two astronauts, Romy Silvers is no stranger to life in space. But she never knew how isolating the universe could be until her parents’ tragic deaths left her alone on the Infinity, a spaceship speeding away from Earth.

Romy tries to make the best of her lonely situation, but with only brief messages from her therapist on Earth to keep her company, she can’t help but feel like something is missing. It seems like a dream come true when NASA alerts her that another ship, the Eternity, will be joining the Infinity

Romy begins exchanging messages with J, the captain of the Eternity, and their friendship breathes new life into her world. But as the Eternity gets closer, Romy learns there’s more to J’s mission than she could have imagined. And suddenly, there are worse things than being alone....

A quick and exciting listen.

The less you know about this before you experience it the better it is. I actually had to stop listening to calm myself down at one point.

Not sure so far

An hour into the audio book and I find myself being jarred out of the story by the ups and downs of the narrators voice. Because the story is intriguing enough I'm considering purchasing a hard copy instead. Its too much work to constantly reassess how I would have read each line and how that changes the tone. As for the book itself it has a way of pulling you in as it gives you pieces for what I hope is a great pay off.

Better than Expected

Even though someone inflicted a lengthy spoiler on this before I was able tolisten to the book, I still really enjoyed it and felt the suspense.

Narrated in a hysterical tone of voice

50 percent of this is narrated in a tone of hysteria, panic, screaming, crying, etc. If for no other reason than this, I would not suggest the audio version.

Second, I avoid any book that has "twist" in the description, because the twist is usually ridiculous. I'm not sure why I didn't heed my "twist" rule this time--I should have--because it ruined what might have been a decent book.

Third, you have to get over the premise of a sixteen-year-old who's been alone on a spaceship since she was eleven--it is YA, after all--so I thought I might be able to, but between they hysteria and the "twist," this was pretty painful to listen to.
