Description
Little changes can make a big, big difference! In The Little Book of Big Change, psychologist Amy Johnson shows you how to rewire your brain and overcome your bad habits - once and for all.
No matter what your bad habit is, you have the power to change it. Drawing on a powerful combination of neuroscience and spirituality, this book will show you that you are not your habits. Rather, your habits and addictions are the result of simple brain wiring that is easily reversed. By learning to stop bad habits at the source, you will take charge of your habits and addictions for good.
Anything done repeatedly has the potential to form neural circuitry in the brain. In this light, habits and addictions are impersonal brain wiring problems that result from taking your habitual thinking as truth, and acting on that thinking in the form of doing your habit - over and over. This book offers a number of small changes you can make in your everyday life that will help you stop your bad habit in its tracks.
If you want to understand the science behind your habit, make the decision to end it, and commit to real, lasting change, this book will help you to finally take charge of your life - once and for all.

Thrilling. Highly recommend.
Hugely interesting and thought-provoking. A new approach that should be much more widespread than it is now.

If you're ready to change, this is the book
Would you listen to The Little Book of Big Change again? Why?
I mean, WOW!! For anyone like me that has struggled for decades with one or more unwanted habits, this book is a permanent game-changer. In addition to Amy's insights into the nature of thoughts & emotions as they relate to addictions, obsessions, compulsivity, etc. being spot on, her book is extraordinarily well written and refreshing in it's simple (but not simplistic), clear, easy approach. And it's completely devoid of all the usual psycho-baffle-gab so commonly found in the self help genre. As a result of the freedom I acquired through the insights written about by Amy, I am not only recommending this book to my own clients, I am retaining Amy as my own life coach. If you are looking to free yourself of one or more unwanted habits, even if you've tried everything under the sun, the answers in this book are what you're looking for. If you are already a practicer of mindfulness, this book will add even more to your understanding.

Life changing
This book was nothing revolutionary for me in terms of information but something about how the author presented it clicked with me and has helped me immensely.

Take the pressure off
This great but very simple book gave me insight into my mind and habits at a deeper level. It showed me the one simple truth. There is nothing wrong with me. I am already enough. Amy showed me that my thoughts are not who I am and it is living in the moment and not in my thoughts that is where peace lies. I could say much more but I suggest if you are looking for joy, peace and happiness in you life, read or listen to Amy. Everyone needs to read this book today.
Thank you Amy for your love.

An approach most have heard, but forgot to apply..
I have heard some of these points in that movie "What the bleep do we know". However Amy puts it in a way that seems to have her own voice, but can feel believable because she isn't the only one stating it. Our habits, our brain and how we perceive our life comes up in this book. Makes you take a long hard look at what you can actually do and not do. I like the fact of not really having to do anything with my habit...goals, steps, checklists...none of that matters. Not even falling off the wagon matters. Just read this, you're bound to get some insight from it. That is the first step....INSIGHT.

Excellent 3 principles teaching with emphasis on beating habits.
I have read Jamie Smarts "Clarity" and got very interested in the 3 principle's. It helped me see the world in an amazing new way, To actually glimpse the real me and see that I am not my thoughts but what is thinking those thoughts. Clarity was more a general look at the principles with some emphasis on how to apply them towards business.
This books focus is on habitual thinking and gave me some very valuable insights into how to see habit in a new way that disempowers those habits and in so doing gives us freedom from them.
This is an excellent book. I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to beat a habit or anyone who is interested in the true nature of how we create our reality and how you might improve on it.

I really, really wanted to like this
I wish I could have loved this book. I really tried. I guess I’m just not in a place where I could relate to any of the people in the book, and I realized that what I needed was a book on how to create NEW habits and not just break old ones. It was also unclear to me how “dismissing an urge as a passing thought” is different from white-knuckling one’s way through a moment of addiction crisis. It felt like the author was patting my hand and saying, “when you are in crazy mode and would do anything for a drug, take the time to step back and think ‘oh, gosh, these are just passing thoughts!’” And what… eat some candy instead? I don’t get it.
Also, one of the things that attracted me to this book was the claim that there was brain research behind the method/theories. While there were a lot of sentences that included the phrase “neuroscience states…” I found no hard evidence, no study results, and no data ever presented to demonstrate how—and even what—conclusions were drawn by the neuroscience researchers.
I do see how it could be helpful for people working through certain disorders, but I guess my problem is just on a different scale.

Ganz empfehlenswert!

Not much in here
The book was very repetitive, essentially focusing on the core idea of present awareness. Even the examples and stories were repeated over and over. I would have liked to hear some practical techniques, but there weren't any. It was nice enough to listen to and reinforced the idea of living in the moment, but I don't believe it's a catalyst for change.
