    Description

Welcome to The Land, Audible's 2018 Customer Favorite!

Enter a mesmerizing tale reminiscent of the wonder of Ready Player One and the adventure of Game of Thrones

Book 1 of a 7 Book series that will Amaze and Delight you for weeks!

Tricked into a world of banished gods, demons, goblins, sprites and magic, Richter must learn to meet the perils of The Land and begin to forge his own kingdom. Actions have consequences across The Land, with powerful creatures and factions now hell-bent on Richter's destruction.

Can Richter forge allegiances to survive this harsh and unforgiving world or will he fall to the dark denizens of this ancient and unforgiving realm?

A tale to shake "The Land" itself, measuring 10/10 on the Richter scale, how will Richter's choices shape the future of The Land and all who reside in it? Can he grow his power to meet the deadliest of beings of the land? When choices are often a shade of grey, how will Richter ensure he does not become what he seeks to destroy?

    Fun book but....

Founding is a fun book, but it has some flaws. The fantasy/RPG aspect of this book and the series are top-notch. It is the maturity level of the writing that makes these books fall flat. The vast majority of these books are borderline teen books. What I mean by that is the writing outside of the excellent fantasy/RPG stuff I mentioned earlier is highschool guy humor at best. It feels like an excellent DM wrote the RPG and combat parts, and a teen guy wrote everything else. Genital size is a standard topic just as a reference. By all means by this book, if you like it, the series is much of the same. But if the bad humor and sad shoved in pop culture, references irk you be warned there is heaps more of it.

    Blech.

Oof. This was a tough listen. I only finished because I hate wasting money... I fully regret this purchase. This book is not only loaded with misogyny, but it's plagued by terrible humor, and poor character development. The MC barely gives a second thought to his past and the predicament he finds himself in.
I wouldn't listen to the rest of the series of I was paid to. This guy claims himself the father of Litrpg...More like the creepy uncle.

    annoying

It's fun but I don't care for the stat readout every time the protagonist levels up it hinders the story and I couldn't finish it.

    Hackney, Banal, Plebeian

Reasonless and illogical all around. Childish self serving trash. Going to return and won't be venturing into litrpgs again. You want litrpgs read manhwa. Like "the gamer". There are many others that are on a level these authors I doubt will ever know exists or at least hope you don't for there free.

    Finally! An rpg-lit worth 5-stars!

Apparently, this is one of the 1st successful (founding) RPG-Lit series that popularized the sub-genre of Fantasy/Adventure fiction.

Now I know why: its filled with quests, spells, loot, skills/abilities, combat, monsters, world-building, magic gear & items, companions, and plently of stats. I love the fact our MC starts with nothing at level 1 and must find his way. (no, he doesnt have to clear out rats in the basement, with a rusty dagger, lol). Im buying the entire saga!

Solid performance, as always, by Nick Podehl.

An RPG classic waiting to be read

This book is the conception of an idea so crazy, it was just waiting to be done. If you're a fan of rpg video games and such you'll enjoy leveling along side the wanna-be-Wizard main character and his friends. Great set up for the next books, good world development, and good narration.

I’ve listened to all these amazing books

The superb performance done by Nick Podehl on all of these books is truly spectacular. The story that builds along with the character development keeps you hooked till the end.

This is the gateway drug that got me hooked!

I had never listened to a LitRPG before, and after listening to this I was hooked! I would stay up late and wake up early just to find more time to listen to this series. I burned through all 7 books in like 2 weeks! Serious a must read if you are into any kind of RPG gaming, like fantasy and love humorous pop culture refrences!

Excessively brutal, slow pace, over the top

LitRPG bingo: - Building a town: Check - Magical tree: Check - Brutality and rape: Check - Morally ambiguous protagonist: Check - Takes one full book to clear a dungeon: Check - "His mouth dropped open when reading his notifications"-Occasions every 5 minutes: Check I've listened to quite a few LitRPG series on Audible recently. This one has quite a few torture, mutilation and rape scenes in it, which I didn't really appreciate. Also many many bad dick jokes. The protagonist is your typical power-hungry american guy, who walks into epic quests and world-events all the time - mostly just by chance. Story progression is awfully slow at times and a single combat might take a dozen chapters to finish. I always had the feeling the protagonist got his priorities somewhat wrong as he spends more time crafting his own weapons than actually administrating his village. "The Land" does have some quite unique and interesting characters though and I did actually end up listening to all 7 currently released books in the Chaos Seeds series. If you can stomach the gritty parts and don't mind the somewhat epic proportions and an ever-growing "to-do-list" this actually has it's good moments. Also Nick Podehl is a brilliant narrator. No complaints there.

    Toller Sprecher, schlechter Autor

Also ein erzähltes Online-Rollenspiel. Mitsamt Stufenanstieg, Werten, Quests, Loot, etc.

Fazit: Toller Sprecher, Geschichte okay, Charaktere charakterlos.

Was mich zu meinem größten Kritikpunkt bringt:

    Perfect easy listening.

I was not expecting much but a friend of mine asked me to give the book a shot. I literally listened to the book in a course of 48 hours and can not wait to listen to the next book in the series. The story is good, not a masterpiece like LORD but entertaining, funny and exiting. The narrator is one of the best I have listened to, he pushes the book from 4 stars up to 5 stars.

    Currently my favorit litrpg saga

After finding this genre it is currently my favorit litrpg saga.
    +intersting world and game mechanics
+magic system based on elements and rival elements
    +intersting companions
+the Mc is sometimes a bit too carefree regarding their circumstances, but finnaly intelleigent (not sherlok holmes intelligent, but a rational human being. Rare that author write male MC that way). Their usually either super genius or complet idiots.
    - the longer the series goes the longer certain things take (sometimes its like dragon ball 10 episodes starring 25 spisodes fighting)
-/+ the books are pretty dark, what some people dont like. I keep it with the ad it happens not here but now and ignoring it helps the real monster in our world. And obviously makes the enemies that much more hatable and beating that that much more satisfing.
+Spoiler: Genre different races, protagonist mage, warrior enchanter, city building, dungeon buildijg, ascenion, dragon companion, enchanting, different races (more then the lotr crew)

First audio book I did not return

Initially, I started to use Audible for my son - Then I thought I could also try to find something good to listen to & I tried several books, but they all bored me. Whether it was the storyline itself of the narrator... Something never was right & I ended up returning book after book, I even canceled my subscription...

And then, I don`t know how I found it, I ended up with this one - ... And this the first book that really caught my attention & interest! Yay.
So yeah, I like the storyline & Nick is a great narrator. Strongly recommended :)
