For the people that curious about the parallel everyone talking about between coronavirus and this books prediction of it.
yes, it has some writing about the virus that one of the scientists from China brought to a secret lab in America. And yes, the virus was originated from Wuham town, biochemical laboratory 🔬 in China. It didn’t called coronavirus, but was scary enough in its aftermath distraction. Actually, the book was very interesting and kept me fully engaged through out the whole entire time!

Excellent
I am not one who will sit down and read a book. I don't have the attention span for it, and maybe the imagination. For some magical reason my mother got me this book for my birthday when I was about 16. I don't know why I picked it up and started reading it. All previous attempts by my mother failed. But as soon as I got past chapter one I was obsessed. Couldn't put it down. Read it all in 2 days. A love for reading followed. It's been about 15 years since I read this book and I travel a lot for a living. I saw this book as a suggested title for a audio book and I thought, "I should read that again!" And as a father now - it definitely strikes a different cord. Great book!!! Will listen/read it again soon....

This book serves Hitchcock & Twilight Zone love
it has the pace of an action movie, with a gradual supernatural element.Koontz has written (according to the entertaining afterword) a basis for a hit suspense thriller.Definitely one of his hidden gems.
Tanya Eby did a great job expressing the grief, terrors, and determination of a mother..not to mention the oddball moments that we all encounter at the most unlikely times.

Twisty
I enjoyed this book so much that I couldn't put it down. It's a sci-fi thriller wrapped in a whodunit with a touch of mother bear and her cubs. Enjoyable read, one of Dean Koontz's first. However, unlike some Koontz novels, I wouldn't be afraid to listen in the dark.

Wasn’t too sure about this at first...
... but it went one way for awhile & then started veering off at another angle & I knew I was gonna like the ending when I sensed where that was. And I did. If you feel a little put off the first quarter or so, I’d encourage you to stay with it longer. I really enjoyed the relationship of the two primary characters & found them very comfortable to hang with through their adventures. I’d have loved another couple chapters but have to say, chapter 41 left me totally satisfied... and giggling like crazy! Whatever your expectations may be at the beginning there are serious kinks in the road along the way to get you to a very different end. Perhaps I found this book satisfying, however, for completely different reasons than the author probably intended & than some may ever pick up on. If you are part of the #GreatAwakening, you’ll recognize reality playing out right now (March 2020) in tantalizing threads between the lines. In which case, you’ll likely enjoy this book as well on more than one level. Would love to compare notes!

The Eyes of Darkness
Well written but you need to like Science Fiction to truly enjoy this book. I enjoyed it and would say ---read it- it ends where you think-this needs a follow up. What is next?

some times you win
as with all D.K books its either his or miss unfortuatley this was a near hit but not quite. On the other hand he gives an acount of the delopment of the book and a related TV series that never was and that is worth the credit to listen to, very entertaining, thats why I gave it the thrid star.

Koontz-lite
The characters are significantly weaker than Koontz at his best. Koontz redid this kind of story better in another novel - with more characterization of the kid. I still liked this version but it is not the best of Koontz.

Disappointing
I read the book only because of the hype on the Wuhan virus etc on social media and wanted to find out what it really said in the book. Right towards the end (Chapter 39) it mentions Wuhan-400 but it doesn’t really compare to Covid-19. The storyline is weak and at times ridiculous. I did not like the narrator at all.
