Description
A species that has no word for murder, has a murderer aboard their spaceship.
Alien
Tristol lives in exile. But he’s built a life for himself aboard a human space station. He’s even begun to understand the complex nuances of human courting rituals.
Detective Hastion is finally flirting back!
Murder
Except that Tristol’s beloved space station is unexpectedly contacted by the galoi - a xenophobic species with five genders, purple skin, and serious attitude. They need the help of a human detective because there’s a murderer aboard their spaceship. Murder is so rare, the galoi don’t even have a word for it.
Tristol knows this because he is galoi.
Romance
Which means that he and Detective Hastion are on the case...together.
Delicate sensibilities?
Contains men who love other men in graphic detail, regardless of gender, biology, or skin color...and lots of emotively sexy tentacle hair.
New York Times best-selling author Gail Carriger (writing as G.L. Carriger) brings you a light-hearted romantic cozy mystery featuring an adorable lavender alien and his human crush.

Michael Lesley + lavender alien = CUDDLELICIOUSNESS!!
This story was simply ADORABLE!! 😱😱
Wait! It’s Tris, our lavender, wriggly-haired alíen that’s ADORABLE! ❤️❤️❤️ He is beyond precious and so full of love!
I’ll warn you that this is a very insta-love story with “baby” and “honey” endearments from the get-go. I always have a problem with that, but Tris made me look the other way and not mind so much when his hunky, brown and bearded detective called him baby.
Tris is from a mysterious and xenophobic race of beings. Detective Hastion is human. Both live on a space station. Both are very into the other, but neither has a clue about how they feel until a runaway cat and a murder bring them together.
The mystery was interesting because of the otherness of the culture Carriger created for the galoi (Tris’ race).
The relationship was interesting because of the alien/human match-up, and the fact that Hastion’s brown shade was gloriously beautiful to the galoi.
This was a total fluff piece, murder aside. This was also totally hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥!! Can you say prehensile hair? Can you say self-lubricating member? ❤️❤️
I do hope Carriger creates more stories in this universe!

As Awesome As Socks and Ramen!
I don’t know why it took so long for me to listen to this one. But I’m glad I finally did.
I wasn’t sure what to expect since I didn’t read the blurb but let me tell you, this book delivers! It’s funny, it’s amusing, it’s sweet, it makes you wanna be friends with Tristol.
There’s the awkward getting-to-know-each-other phases, to growing more comfortable together and accepting each other’s being. There are hot steamy scenes as well. It was interesting but also hot.
There’s a bit of mystery too and while this one presents as a light sweet romantic sci-fi romance read, it also has a strong social commentary that makes us reflect on how societally-centered issues.
It truly is wonderfully written matched with Michael Lesley’s skillful narration.
This one is going to be worth your credit, it’s going to be one of those audiobooks that I’ll listen to again and again.
Five galactic stars all around.

Listened then immediately relistened
I never thought I would like a space story but it turned out I loved this book. The pretty purple (sorry lavender) alien helped alot and a gay romance and an narrator who made the book come truly alive.

Silly and Salient
A beautiful story exploring otherness, acceptance and the importance of connection, wrapped up in silliness and hot alien sex.

Wonderful!!
I wasn’t sure what to expect and fell in love with this story. It made me laugh and made my heart hurt. Tristol was excellent and so alien, but still conveyed a relevant message in his elegant way. I would happily read more in the world.

I got bored
I love to hear Michael Lesley. He brought the story to life. But the story lacked in some ways. It was too predictable in spots. It became one big eye roll.

5 star narration and story!
Narration: Wow, I loved Michael Lesley’s narration. The narration is full of life and emotion. The voices used are exactly what I had imagined when I read the book. Michael does read with an odd sort of inflection, but it grew on me quickly and fit Tris and the fact that he’s speaking a different language from his native language.
Story: Believe it or not, this is a powerful story of love, acceptance and informed consent. The author has created an interesting alien species with a very complex culture and society. I love how the world upswing and information about the alien species is expertly woven into the overall plot, and in just 250 pages! I knew I’d enjoy this book because I love alien stories and science fiction, but it blew my expectations away.
Also, it’s impossible to dislike anything about the main characters. Tris is an absolute sweetheart and full of life and love. Everyone who meets him loves him, even Drey despite his attempts to ignore how he feels about Trey. These two are lovely together and it’s fun to watch them work together as they investigate the murder in the story.
I loved everything about this story and highly, highly recommend it!

Meeh
That Book itself is ok but the character's are just fucking all the time and It didnt have climactic scene. So ot went on and on and nothing special happened. I also didnt like the voice of the narrarator, it was hard to differentiate when it was a dialog.

Wonderful story!
This story is the cutest thing ever. I like how the two main characters are similar in ideas and so so so different in culture. I really enjoyed how the galoi worked, just close enough to human to be confusing for them.
There was some sex, which was nice, and some conversation, which was even better. The gender thing was nice, if not the main focus.
I also like how the investigation was done.
The narrator did an awesome job!
All in all I got exactly what I came for when I saw it was from Gail Carriger. Loved the story to bits!

very interesting and enjoyable
a new world in space with an alien race with 5 genders. this was difficult to understand at the beginning for a not native speaker, mainly because of the names and the complicated functions of the different genders. But this changed during the book and in the end it was good. I loved the story even so I guessed the ending. tris was described very thoroughly and I found tray lacking a bit at this. I would have liked to read more of his charakter, but I understand, that the main focus had to be on the lavender alien. I highly recommend this audiobook, which is absolutely fantastic narrated to readers who are open minded and adventurous.

Good Characters and a brilliant reader
Miss Carriger brings you to a space station filled with interesting characters a plausible world a good criminal case, diplomatic differencies and a very good love story including hot but sensitive gay sex.
Mr. Lesley makes really exellent work with his voice and helps to lure you into this story.
