    Description

When you are criticized or rejected, do you have a tendency to lash out or withdraw entirely? Both types of knee-jerk reactions can have lasting and unintended consequences, affecting our friendships, careers, families, and romantic relationships. The truth is, overreacting hurts us as much as it hurts the people around us. You may see overreacting as an unchangeable part of your personality, but in reality, this tendency, like any other, can be unlearned. Stop Overreacting helps you identify your emotional triggers, discover a new way of processing impulsive thoughts and feelings, and understand how your emotions can undermine your ability to think rationally in moments of crisis and stress. You'll learn how to neutralize overwhelming emotions and choose healthy responses instead of flying off the handle. Ready to make a change for the better? It's time to stop overreacting and start feeling collected and in control.

Good balance of science and self-help

What did you like best about this story?

Some self-help gets too technical with data and science, but this included just a hint of science. Just enough to back up the self-help strategies.

What about Janis Daddona’s performance did you like?

Narration was excellent, very comforting and soft.

Would you listen to Stop Overreacting again? Why?

Yes, because it helped me learn how to control my own emotions as well as understand why others overreact.

    Pass on this

What disappointed you about Stop Overreacting?

Imagine listening to an audio book recorded by Siri from iPhone. That's the vocal quality you get with this book. If you are seriously interested in the topic from this author, get the book and bypass the audio version.

How could the performance have been better?

Have a real person record this or a much better voice if it was a real person.

    Narrator was rough

Good book, but hard to focus. The narrator sounded like a robot. Distracting

    Practical, relevant and informative

Excellent audio book that got better and better. I found it a bit slow to start but it soon hooked me in by using relatable examples, offering practical suggestions and matter of fact presentation. Loved the narrator's soothing manner.

    Rewrite the script

The exercises in this book helped me to discover some realities that I didn't realized were tucked away. These realities drove many bad behaviors that I now have tools to help me rewrite the script. I felt a cleansing. Great book

    Informative, yet juvenille

I enjoyed the information in the book but found the narration irritating and distracting. It's hard to tell if the narrator is a computer or person. The disingenuine inflections in the voice are cold and redundant.
The information seems like it was written for an eleventh grade audience. The excessive examples are predictable and boring.
This is my first audio book purchase and has left me feeling discoraged to purchase another.
