The best story ever

I truly believe that the Daughter of the Empire and Servant of the Empire are the best fiction stories ever written. LOVE it!

Love the strong female lead

Ive loved this series since I first read it in the 90 s. The audible performance made it even better! I luv audible and listening tobooks especially since i dont have time to read anymore, its perfect to help me keep up with all my favorites! Audible 20 review sweepstakes entry

Me: So your slave lover is 6’5, wide shouldered, with red gold hair, striking blue eyes and a tongue that disrespects you in public at every turn?

Mara: Yes! He’s so hot I forgive him everything. I decided to have his baby and pass it off as Hokanu’s.

Me: And what does Hokanu look like?

Mara: Oh, 5’10 with really dark skin and up-tilted black eyes. Slender. He’s totally rich and important, the baby will have it made!

Me: Yeah, uh genius.

I lost respect for the main character and many secondary characters rubbed me wrong. This sequel did not fulfill the promise of book one.

What’s there to say? The empire trilogy is among the best fantasy out there. Go get it!!

just as good as I remembered it, reminds me of a tail of old Japan, with a smattering if SF&F in it

Loved reading the actual books but no longer have the time I used to. Great story that intertwines well with the books that take place on the kingdom of the isles.

I’m not Crying!! 😢

I’ve read fantasy books all my life. 49yrs. This book had me balling like a baby. So deep did my emotions run while listening. I’ve never been so moved. Mara is a very unique character and I live for her every move in the great game. I usually like lots of magic. This book had very little but it’s extraordinary none the less. Do yourself a favor and listen to this book.

Loved this book

I enjoyed this book as a young man and many years later in a much busier life. I have once again enjoyed the book in this amazingly narrated version.

Intrigue, Conspiracy, Espionage and Action!

Wow, I thought Daughter of the Empire was exciting and this just draws the reader in even deeper!
