Far more developed story line and characters by Coleman than Brandman. Brandman's work smacks of Stuart Woods--hurry up and tell the story and pretend it is the same. Look forward to more Jesse from Coleman....as good as Ace Atkins is with Spenser.

Would you try another book from Reed Farrel Coleman and Robert B. Parker (Created by) and/or James Naughton?

Reed does not seem to have a grip on the true nature of a Jesse Stone book. I would go so far that the only thing he has captured and reproduced is the character's names. Had I been more observant I would not have purchased this knowing it was not by Parker.

All of the performance was fine, the material is the let down.

This is not a Jesse Stone book, so long as you are aware of that you may well enjoy it.

So GOOD! Great Tribute to Dr. Parker

I was so worried when the estate began announcing various writers picking up Dr. Parker's series. So far, every one has been worthy. This is no exception. It's a bit different than some of the others in that it is longer but that's a bonus here. The best compliment I can think of is that I can't tell someone else wrote it. Naughton is perfect as Jesse and overall and as with Ace Atkins on the Spenser series I am now going to see if Reed Farrel Coleman has a back catalog. If you miss Robert B. This will make you feel better.

My favorite Jesse Stone so far.... All the characters we love and lots of additional background on Jesse.

Narrater really saved this one!

The author caught the tone of Parker, but the "love story" element was overdone. Earlier Parker books confined Stone's attachments to more brief coverage. The narration by James Naughton was great, as ever, and made it easier to "hear" Patterson through Patterson's voice, even though Coleman was at the keyboard.

Not Parker's Jesse Stone

The couple of post-Parker titles, by Michael Brandman, were worthy sequels. Not this. Reed Farrell Coleman iis writing about some police chief somewhere, but not the character Parker created.
I was looking forward to working through the rest of the books, but not now. I may try a chapter or two of the next title, but I'm not optimistic. Probably time to move on.

Keeps action moving and is of course well done and one wonders what the follow up will be

Quite different from the "movies".

I was very excited to listen to the Jesse Stone series when I found them on Audible. Tom Selleck's "Jesse Stone" was a wonderful strong, silent type. That did not come across here. I realize differences are common between books and movies, but not so much as to make you "dislike" the book's version.
The writing was stilted and predictable as well as dated. Only the female characters were described well, and that was in a limited fashion. The male characters may have had one of two descriptive words used once in a while, but the dearth of adjectives for the men in this was telling.
I had planned to rent ALL the Jesse Stone books here on Audible. This will be the only one.

Don't expect a Jesse stone book

Individuals in story have changed their personalities, interplay and character. No longer the Jesse Stone books we loved.
