Description
Threatened by university cutbacks, Professor Abigail Bern's only hope is to publish a provocative research paper - soon. Planning to covertly observe behavior in the notorious Dark Haven BDSM club, she takes a receptionist job. When the owner calls upon her to assist in a demonstration, she's appalled. Then fascinated. Under the unyielding hands of the master known as my Liege, she discovers a need to be more than an observer.
His late wife had been the center of his life, and Xavier Leduc wants no other. But when his new receptionist does her utmost to keep an emotional distance from him, he's intrigued and digs deeper. She's adorable. Intriguingly intelligent, beautifully submissive, sweetly vulnerable. He soon realizes her defenses are keeping her on the fringe of her sexuality - and her life. As he draws her into fuller participation, she unconsciously does the same for him. She begins to fill his world.
Ever since the night she met my Liege Xavier, Abby has questioned everything she believes about herself. She's falling for the stern owner of Dark Haven and thinks he's beginning to care for her, until the day he learns why she's in his club.

My Liege of Dark Haven
I enjoyed parts of this book. I felt like Abby was two different people. In her head, she was very insecure but outwardly she is strong. That was a little confusing to me. How can you be both?
The kink was great, all those scenes were fine, I guess I just have read racier things and they kind of felt a little tame.
My favorite part was the war games, that was a nice little twist on everything.
Though not letting her explain herself when they are all about communication kind of peed me off just a little. Like you see this guy who isn’t following the rules and he lashes back and you don’t give the person you have spent all this time with the benefit of the doubt. That was a little farfetched for me.
The ending I found to have a little too much dramalama why did we need the older sister scenes at all. It just didn’t fit with the story at least not for me.
Overall it was an ok book, I don’t know if I would read it again but I might like to check out the next book.
The narration was ok I liked Wen in this one, sometimes I feel like Kai over acts parts and it can be distracting. I like when she is just herself.

Oh My......
I wanted to make sure I did a good job on this review so I listened to it again, and again, and again and I still find myself blushing and feeling very warm. Now what I am doing? Oh, right the review.
Abby (Abigail Bern) is a professor who desperately needs to publish or perish. She decides to write a paper on BDSM society and ends up volunteering as a receptionist at the Dark Haven private BDSM club with all of its extra duties to do her research. Xavier Leduc (My Liege) is the owner of Dark Haven and finds the new receptionist intriguing.
The book is written from two points of view (POV) and the experience greatly enhances the listener’s/reader’s enjoyment. I feel in love with the characters, though I occasionally wanted to slap them both upside the head. Both Abby and Xavier are written perfectly and we get to see the emotional walls of both open up.
From the start through the finish it is addicting with a much saner exposure to BDSM in a club as well as in the home. Abby’s fantasy towards the end was more than steamy (I say as I am turning the ceiling fan on again and it is the middle of winter during a cold spell).
My Liege of Dark Haven is not only sexy and passionate, it has some fabulously humorous moments interspersed. I got several weird looks when I would spontaneously burst out in laughter one minute and blush a few minutes later. Yes, in hindsight I probably should not have been listening to this while grocery shopping.
This was my first exposure to the tantalizing, titillating, and wonderful writing of Cherise Sinclair. Since listening to My Liege of Dark Haven the first time I admit to indulging in three more of the books from this series and one from the Shadowlands series. They will not be the last. Mistress Cherise’s writing does a brilliant job at gently bringing the reader/listener into the story as a full participant.
This is a Duet narration, meaning that the male narrator reads all of the male character lines and the female narrator does the same for the females throughout the entire book. This is as opposed to Dual when the narrators alternate reading chapters vocalizing all of the characters in that chapter. Duet is definitely my favorite type of listening especially for romance and erotica books.
The narration team of Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross is perfect! They both do an outstanding job giving the characters the perfect personalities and went above and beyond in making me feel like I was part of the story. They are now in an elite class of readers I cannot get enough of. In addition to purchasing and listening to additional stories from Dark Haven I have purchased an additional book because of their narration even though I am unfamiliar with the author.
Many thanks to Sinclair, Kennicott and Ross for adding heat and heart to my ears. I will be revisiting this story soon as well as many others from all three of you.

Totally Enjoyable
When you add two great voice actors with a story by a great author, you get magic. I read the story some time ago, and it was great. However, pairing the story with two great voice actors like Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross just brought the whole thing to life. Is it worth the credit, YES. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Outstanding Story, Extremely Improved Narration!
This is one of my favorite Dark Haven storylines and this narration made it even better!.
Eureka! I can finally recommend buying a narration by Wen Ross. His two previous Dark Haven/ Mountain Masters narrations were abysmal. This one shows the emotion of the male characters as well as distinctive speech patterns and accents. Kai Kennicott's usual excellent narrations were even better. Looking forward to the next one.
If you like erotic romance, Cherise Sinclair is the "tops"! Great storylines told with wit, humor, and incredibly vivid erotic scenes

Xavier
Love this book ,i have read it several times . I decided to try the. Audio version , it was just as great . Although i did think Xavier's voice sound more like a vampire rather then British accent ,it was still a very hot story as Xavier is my favorite of all .
So don't miss out on a sexy well written and SEXY story.

Multitude of emotions
Abby is a professor that is used to have control and is coming out of a relationship where she refused to be a submissive.
She is only at Dark Haven for observation. Xavier is a Dom still not ready to commit after losing his wife but cant help being drawn to Abby.
The story is so great and have so much feelings, I cried and laughed and of course I got excited because this author never fails in making good really hot scenes. She masters the challenge of both making a good story and giving you enough erotic scenes that you don't ever get bored.
I loved how Xavier plucked away Abby's insecurities about her body. If I should mention something it's that her "revenge" on her sister should have been more severe.
It feels like I live in the book so again I disappear in one of Sinclair's books and I love it.
Narrators:
Excellent, read with feelings and clear pronunciation. They give life to the characters
Big fat 5 stars.

Awful male narrator
What did you like best about this story?
Love the plot and the characters.
What didn’t you like about Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s performance?
Wen Ross, the male narrator, is just dreadful. He makes Xavier sound like a young Bela Lugosi as Dracula. I was hard-pressed to listen to the entire book and I LOVE anything by Cherise Sinclair. The narrator for her Shadowlands books - Noah Michael Levine - is FAR superior.
