Description

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France. But he arrives too late to save his client, whose brutally stabbed body now lies face downwards in a shallow grave on a golf course.

But why is the dead man wearing his son's overcoat? And who was the impassioned love-letter in the pocket for? Before Poirot can answer these questions, the case is turned upside down by the discovery of a second, identically murdered corpse....

Great Story

As always, Hugh Fraser narrates the story very well. His Poirot voice matches the one from the film version so well, it is better than the one David Suchet uses in the audio books he narrates! The story is very well-crafted and moves quickly. I could not have predicted the twist at the end. This work has more romance in it than the other Poirot stories I know, which makes it all the more interesting and meaningful.

Hugh Fraser is a Winner!

Hugh Fraser is the perfect narrator for the Poirot books! He's charming, easy listening, and a perfect Poirot and much better than other Poirot narrators.

One of the best

If you could sum up Murder on the Links in three words, what would they be?

Must get it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Murder on the Links?

I loved the parts where Hercule went up against the "expert detective". While the he was searching for clues with a microscope, Poirot was examining a piece of pipe and piles of old clothes.

What does Hugh Fraser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the way he is consistent with the voices of the characters that are in multiple books. It makes it very easy to know who is talking without him saying so.

Any additional comments?

One of my favorites so far!! Never saw the end coming!

Hastings in Love

The beginning of when Hastings diverges to the Argentine and we slowly start getting more of Japp and Ariadne. Loved this episode too. A true love story even with Poirots meddling.

Great story

I recommend this audiobook to everyone interested in a smart and entertaining story. I have read only a few of Agatha Christie's novels (The Mysterious Affair at Styles, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Murder on the Orient Express) but I enjoyed this audiobook a lot and it is as good as the others.

Meh

The story was pretty convoluted and overly confusing in my opinion. Narration was as good as ever, but this will not be a Poirot story I reread/listen to again.

Oh Captain Hastings....

What can be said? Another great period mystery from Agatha...one has to marvel at how dense Hastings is and I always enjoy Poirot's interactions and patience with him...good stuff.

Great story

A very great story with twists and turns and one of my favorite elements... making fun of Hastings. Poirot event gets an “adversary” in the French Inspector Giraud who goes out of his way to insult Poirot. A truly great Poirot story!

Lovely story, reading is a bit below the usual par

This is one of my favourite Agatha Christie mysteries, and I loved listening to it again. I am usually fond of Hugh Fraser's reading, but this particular time I was a little disappointed. Almost all of the women he is portraying in this book sound the same, weak and frail, which is particularly disappointing for M.D. (initials of a character, won't spoil them for you). It's a pity, because it makes it much harder for me to be immersed in the story.
