Avis de l'équipe

Memory Man is the latest release from best-selling crime author David Baldacci and is a hair-raising unabridged crime thriller audiobook narrated by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy. Listeners are kept hanging on to every word as Amos Decker, once professional football player now police detective, embarks on a mission using a very unique gift and exceptional detective skills to find the person responsible for brutally murdering his family. The twisting plot in this audio makes it utterly absorbing. Listeners will be searching for clues as much as Decker himself. Available from Audible now.

Description

The next novel from the best-selling crime author David Baldacci. Amos Decker is a former professional football player whose career was ended by a terrible hit. Now a police detective, Amos is still haunted by a side effect from the accident he can never forget.

One night Decker comes home from a stakeout to find his wife, young daughter, and brother-in-law horrifically murdered. Obviously scarred and nearly broken, Decker has to use his skills as a detective and his unusual brain capacity to try to catch the monster who killed his family.

Never Forget A Thing

In a time when memories begin to vanish at the drop of a hat, we seldom consider that the antithesis can be equally devastating to the human mind. In this gripping story, the reader is catapulted into the mysterious realm of not being able to shut off their mental rewind of their life. Survivors are victims; victims are survivors; and truth is tangled in the webs of mental histories that defy logic.

Non-stop mysteries of the mind lead to unrelated murders, unlikely criminal investigations, and seemingly disconnected deaths. The human mind houses mysterious motives and unlimited opportunities as it replays crimes of passion to achieve justice.

This book is well crafted and spins multiple stories as each crime is investigated. It moves at a rapid clip & is difficult to put aside as the plot unfolds. Characters are well developed, but they don't become your best friends.

great story, annoying sound effects

The story is interresting and easy to follow. The voice is good. The sound effects are annoying and distracting. They add nothing to the audiobook. Please stop without the audio effects.

Brilliant Story

Amos' terrible tragedy comes two fold, once with his football injury and then the devastating death of his family. The story is well told and page turning. His mental capacities are amazing and I'd love a fraction of those abilities. Amos is a character I would love to see more of.

The ridiculous sound effects ruined this for me

I never leave reviews, but in this case I have some constructive criticism to share. This would have been a fine recording had they omitted the cheesy sound effects. I found them to be an unnecessary distraction, and so loud they overwhelmed the narration. The story was interesting enough. The narration alone was fine. It is a shame, but I will chose to read this title instead. I hope the following titles in this series do not suffer the same noise as this one did.

Memory Man

The authors imagination coupled with the narrators passion for the story, keeps the listener riveted. It was a very believable story and I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for another book to come out.

Amos Decker rocks. Enthralling crime/mystery

Loved the main character, Amos. Great detective work. Good character development. Suspense filled. At 10 hours, the perfect length.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

This is my first book of David Baldacci and I look forward to reading "The Last Mile", book number 2 in the Amos Decker series.

The narration and minimal sound effects throughout the book certainly added to the enjoyment of the book overall. I liked the characters, found the story easy to follow and was eager to see how everything all fit together in the end. I did manage to figure a couple things out about the "who done it" along the way and although some of the story was a bit far fetched, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book!

If you enjoy this genre of books, I really don't think you will be disappointed with this one! I can't wait to start the next one.

Too much of violence, unnecessary for the plot

Sparhuman personality solves crime related to his family...Twisted minds create murder - Parts of it too absurd to enjoy, still good language, few stereotypes...Less cruelty would not have harmed the thrilling story.I still had a good time listening.

A good crime thriller

Story line very good which gets you involved to try and guess who the culprit is. Overall enjoyment slightly let done by, at times, poor audio editing / mix. Otherwise I enjoyed this.
