Without even a fraction of his previous power, he vows to pull through and have revenge on those who betrayed him.

His thorough knowledge of the game's world and his unique ability to immerse himself entirely are his only advantages. But first, he must figure out how to survive long enough playing what is basically a low-level fodder monster!

All Hail Our Tiny Green Overlord!

Oren was one of the first players in New Era Online, an immersive virtual reality MMORPG. He leveled up in the game until he was a highly influential player, the head of the top guild in the game, with an impressive number of prime badges. All that is taken away when Oren is betrayed and a powerful scroll spell is used against him. Oren wakes up as a tiny green goblin in the unexplored Deadlands of New Era Online.

Determined not to delete his character, Oren decides to continue to play as a goblin and wreak his revenge. To do this, he needs to build a goblin city in the Deadlands and take the fight to the players who betrayed him.

If you're a fan of this genre, you know what to expect. The main character takes on quests, level grinds, improves his stats, and interacts with the game. This book has all that and more. There's really something for everyone here. If you love stats, this book is full of them, Oren's personal stats, the stats of his goblins, his building stats, resource stats, you name it. If you love city building, this is the book for you. You can just settle back and watch him build his new village, weighing food production needs against resource management, watching everything move at a realistic pace. And if you like combat, there's some of that too, as Oren defends his new settlement and takes out those threatening it.

I was genuinely invested in Oren and his progression. In the beginning, he made some frustrating bonehead decisions, and tried to explain why the mistakes actually worked in his favor. But by the end, his struggle to hold everything together made him really likable. There's some other characters I can't wait to see more of. It's going to be interesting to see where the series goes from here.

Jeff Hays did an awesome job with the narration. He has an impressive number of different voices for the characters, and is consistent with them throughout the book. He also has a realistic female voice which I always appreciate. He made the book a pleasure to listen to. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. I'd 100% recommend this book to fans of the LitRPG genre.

Above the cut

This is another one of the few LitRPG series on audible that is truly well written and more importantly seems to have actually been edited.

If you're like me and love classic LitRPG, but can't bare to face-palm your way through another unedited string of beginner writer's mistakes then you know what I mean.

This book actually deserves the 5 stars.

Surprisingly great! Good design.

A very fun and very long first entry in what i hope is a many book series. I usually avoid litrpgs where the people can log out (which most of them can) but the way the mc gets stuck is very believable and gives him a real goal to work towards. Only one game mechanic made me cringe and go, "no one would make or play a game like that." Which is high praise for this genre. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the litrpg genre. I can't wait for the next one.

A great adventure

I am not usually into these types of litrpgs, where the world is a game and everyone knows it. But this story is a great take on this type of world.

Well written, funny, smart with lots of action and twists. its a hefty read at 25 hours as well. Shout out to the sound editors and the narrator who do a great job bringing the story to life.

I, for one, welcome our new green overlords and eagerly await the next book.

A fine and wonderful story

I had a very difficult time taking breaks from this story, it was so very engaging. It's a long story, but well worth the time. I'm starting the next book as soon as I finish this review.

Who doesn’t love an under dog.

Life Reset does a great job exploring the often neglected game aspect of strategy game play of builing up your town and running into resource issues with a nice mix of combat and character development. The story could use a little more refining but it’s a great and enjoyable story.

For the person that complained that it’s a complete ripoff of Re:Monster they are completely wrong as that story is about a dude that dies and is reincarnated with his previous life’s ability to gain powers from eating his enemies and builds up a haram and fights other monster, the only shared aspects of these two stories is the main character is a goblin. As someone who has actually read both story, unlike the person that claimed it was plagiarism, I can honestly and truthfully say they are completely full of it and have no idea what they are talking about...

Life Reaet will have you pulling your hair out sometime asking why the MC makes some decisions he makes but if you get over that one problem you will completely enjoy it and waiting for the next one.

could be good if not for moronic protagonist.

okay that's not entirely true the protagonist is really smart sometimes but this book does this ridiculous nonsense that so many books do where and intelligent protagonist all of a sudden becomes a complete f****** idiot just because the author can't think of a better way to move the plot forward.

if you can't write a smart character who's smart all the time then just don't write a smart character for the love of God please. it's like reading a book with two separate main characters entirely.

the world of new era online story +1 stats -1

So many details/options ignored

I haven't finished the book yet, but am right now deeply disappointed and frustrated about all options that were forgotten in the big fight in chapter 27.
Generally the book so far is a great experience, which is kinda ruined by the this first big fight. I am not really looking forward to any further fights as the author ignores/forgets options previously introduced and/or used.

Spoiler: what I am talking about are void crystals being able to regenerate mana and the goblin race ability that deals more damage when damage received. Both would have drastically changed events and I just can't wrap my head around how they could be ignored/forgotten.

Good

It's a great book but a bit slow in its development. There a quite a number of statistics that are repeater very often which sometimes obstructs the story. The idea itself is neatly converted into a good story though.

Imaginative book with potential for more

This is a nice audiobook, the production was very good, however, there are some inconsistencies and continuity errors in the book itself. On multiple occasions the protagonist seems not to recall that he already had an idea earlier, also in some occasions, the "NPC" characters use titles only acquired by the protagonist a couple of chapters later.
This may point to a bit of lackluster or rushed editing.

Although these mistakes are rather small, they tend to ruin the immersion, also the repeated readings of the character sheets are a bit annoying, I imagine that in the original book format, the sheets were more of a form or "screenshot" - granted this poses a difficulty for an audiobook.

However I still enjoyed listening to this audiobook, and the concept and plot were quite imaginative.

Supernerdy good, but...

I really liked the idea, or the Story about it ( since man captured by Machines isn't really "News").
Having no shame to go full on Nerd was superb. Far too often Storys try to somehow vindicate themselves. Not this one - right on Point, full on. Really refreshing. Around one third in, it got a bit too much even for me, who likes and plays these games. Getting narrated the building manual over and over and over again got me a bit tired of it. I would play that game, but getting told everyone stat was just boring after a while ( I mean, just listening to them and not playing myself).
Thankfully even in this part there were good story parts and hooks and after some time the story came back on Tracks.
And when some major events happen THEN I also like to know the new stats :)

Man sollte definitiv Townbuilding mögen.

Shows Promise

The story is slow paced, but in return gives a detailed view of the development of both character and clan. There are several elements that promise huge events in the future and the story hints at a highly anticipated world changing endgame. The impact the main character has on the world is exciting and leaves much to the Imagination.

There could easily be room for another half a dozen books focusing on the rise to greatness as this book finishes still very early due to the slow pace. Still never got bored, the concept of building up a new clan is intriguing.
