Description
We don't get a lot of NBA superstars coming through little ol' Pine Hill, Texas. That's why everyone is all in a tizzy over the fact that the USA men's Olympic basketball team will be training here of all places before this year's Summer Games. Rumors about the players have been spreading like wildfire, and there's one man in the middle of it all holding a match.
Ben Castillo. NBA champion. Olympic gold medalist. Widely hailed
"King of the Court."
The morning he walks into my dingy diner, I have enough sense to keep my head down and go right on wiping tables, pouring coffee, and serving up short stacks. A man who looks like that—superstar or not—has only ever meant trouble, and more trouble is the last thing I need.
If anything, he seems drawn to my indifference. His steely gaze pierces me behind the counter. My knees nearly buckle under the weight of his attention. But while Mr. Pretty Boy is probably used to snagging city girls with a smile, this gal is country strong.
I won't be some cliched convenience for him on his way through town.
So look over your choices carefully, Benny-boy. We serve up sides of hash browns here, not heartbreak.
Contains mature themes.

King of the Court
First lets talk about the narration because it was fantastic. I am a huge fan of both Desiree and Aiden and you put these two together and I am all for it. They were perfect for these characters.
I liked Raelynn the most, I liked that she was the kind of character to give up her dreams to come take care of the only person who ever cared about her. And even though she was miserable she was still kind and gracious.
I am just not a fan of love at first sight or lust even. It always feels odd to me. It didn’t rush into them becoming a couple so the book got some points back for that.
Ben… I guess for me he just wasn’t really a well foundered character because we don’t get to know him really. And when we do it is for a twist or a trope the book didn’t really need.
Part 1 was perfect then Part 2 I was like wait what… it just didn’t work for me.
I guess on to the next R.S. Grey book because usually I like them better than I liked this one.

Sappy fantasy love story
Best part of this book… the resonant voice of Aiden Snow. Ms. Ketchum is a bit nasally in her reading. The story is sooooo far fetched to be considered “fantasy” IMO. Plus, angsty tension based in ridiculously poor communication is just frustrating, not to mention weak. This book prompted nonstop eye rolling, as well as deep groans (and not the good kind). If you want unicorns and rainbow love (with a tiny rain shower), this is your jam.

One of my favorites by R.S. Grey 🏀
I love sports romances, and this one is raw and real in so many ways. I’ll never forget reading it for the first time, because it pulled at all of my heartstrings. I’ve been dying for the audio version, and it didn’t disappoint 🥰. Aiden Snow is always amazing, and this was my first with Desiree Ketchum, but she was great!
Ben and Birdie have special places in my book heart, and I can’t recommend it enough 💛

Blah
This was such a disappointment. It has none of the humor I’ve come to love from R.S. Grey. Not even one little joke. That was such a let down.
But that aside, this story still fell flat. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it. It’s just so blah. Nothing happens. There’s no life! The characters’ chemistry is none existent and it just feels like the entire book is filler. It’s very run of the mill and the only RS book I haven’t liked so far. Plus, it was about 2 hours too long, especially considering nothing happens the whole book. It’s a short story stretched out for 11+ hours.
Skip this one. She’s written so much better.
The narration though, loved it. Aiden Snow has the voice of a god! The only reason I kept listening. It’s absolutely lovely. Desiree Ketchum was good too!

I love sports romance
It's not too often I read a basketball romance story, R.S. Grey has not disappointed me yet with any of her books and this one didn't disappoint. Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow gave a perfect narration.

Finally on audiobook!
I was waiting for this book to come out in audiobook for the longest time! It was an absolute treat to read. Funny, some spice, and just the right amount of heart string pulling for it not to be heart breaking to read. A nice, fun, light read/listen. One of my R.S. Grey favorite books. Also you can never go wrong with Aiden Snow he is by far my favorite narrator.
