A much deserved HEA
I don't laugh often when reading but I did laugh out loud listening to some parts of this book, winning a few quizzical stares from my colleagues on my break. I was very glad for those passages giving the book a lighter tone than the previous one.
Unlike other people, I like Layla because she isn't ashamed of the love she has for a very harden man. She doesn't really apologize for anything even though she is understanding... but how could she love Vlad the Impaler if she wasn't understanding of his violent nature ? She has her own violent nature and though she usually use it in self-defence, she doesn't regret it afterward and doesn't have any lingering guilt about killing someone who wanted to or have harm her or the ones she loves. That's why she is so understanding of Vlad but at the same time, she is also very demanding of him. After only a year in their relationship, she has already changed him a lot but he is still a 600 years old vampire, hardened by time and war.
I do think this book was just a bit less good than the 3 before in this Night Prince series but I still loved it very much.
Tavia Gilbert reading was very good, as always, and I love the way she really plays the actions, in sex and combats scenes alike.
