Quel incroyable lecteur !!
Considérez-vous la version audio meilleure que la version papier ?
Comparer la version audio et la version papier n'a - à mon avis - aucun sens, ce serait comme comparer les livres et les films : quand on lit les livres, on imagine soit-même les décors, les actions, mais aussi les voix des personnages (en tout cas c'est ce que je fais quand je lis).
Match nul donc, les plaisirs de lecture et d'écoute n'étant pas les mêmes.
Quel était le moment le plus mémorable de Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Book 1 ?
Le premier chapitre, toujours aussi magique :)
Qu'est-ce qu'a pu apporter Stephen Fry de plus à l'histoire par rapport à si vous aviez lu le livre ?
L'énorme apport de Stephen Fry à cet audio-livre est la qualité EXCEPTIONNELLE de sa lecture, notamment lors des dialogues : il arrive à insuffler une vraie vie aux différents personnages, sans tomber dans la caricature (contrairement à Bernard Giraudeau pour la version française, qui est absolument catastrophique de ce point de vue).
En outre, Stephen Fry possède un timbre de voix et un rythme de lecture qui font qu'il reste facile à comprendre, pas besoin d'un niveau d'anglais exceptionnel suivre (au pire il suffit de régler la vitesse de lecture sur 0.9x ; ça ne déforme quasiment pas sa voix et ça peut aider).
Si vous faisiez une adaptation de ce livre audio au cinéma, quel en serait le slogan ?

Potterhead approved !
Excellente interprétation de Stephen Fry ! Je connais l'histoire par cœur, ayant lu les livres et vu les films de nombreuses fois mais pour ma première lecture en anglais c'était vraiment parfait :) La narration de Stephen Fry est fantastique et nous transporte complètement à Poudlard <3 Je recommande !

Narration insupportable !
L'histoire, bien entendu, est toujours aussi fantastique et prenante pour qui a déjà dévoré les livres Harry Potter. Mais le narrateur rend l'écoute de ce livre insupportable. Cette manière d'essayer de changer de voix à chaque personnage...pauvre Professeur McGonagal, si elle entendait ça...C'est vraiment dommage, j'attendais ce livre audio avec une grande impatience, je n'ai même pas passer le deuxième chapitre.

I feel sorry for the americans that have to buy the version read by jim dale. I am so utterly biased, I think these readings by stephen fry are the ultimate interpretation.

Back to Hogwarts!
What makes this good book even better is the great performance of Stephen Frye.. Listening to him brought me back to Hogwarts and I could almost see the places and people he was reading about! A little bit of music every now and then would make the whole thing perfect, but even without music it's a brilliant performance. I strongly recommend!

Magical!
I've never got to the Harry Potter books. I love the movies and the games, however I have never actually read the books. Therefore, I decided, that my first audiobook from Audible will be Phillosopher's Stone. It was captivating from start to finish, making my eyes literally water with some kind of nostalgia at some places. I don't think anyone else would have narrated it better than Stephen Fry. His amazing voice brings every character to life and creates an exquisite atmosphere throughout the whole story. Now I can't wait to buy the rest of the HP audiobooks!

The Harry Potter Series
Would you listen to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Book 1 again? Why?
I would listen to this book again in fact I would listen to any of the Potter books again because I can always learn something different every time I read them.
What other book might you compare Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Book 1 to and why?

My favorite scene is when Hagrid gives Dudly a pig tail it is just so funny.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moment which moves me is when Dumbledore says this. To the well organized mind, death is just another adventure.

Don't try to compare Stephen Fry's readings with Jim Dale there are 2 different styles both of which blend themselves with the uniqueness of this series.

great narrator, whispering noisy audio compression
The narrator and the story are great, but...
I bought the original audio cd and audible version, too. Audible's voice has a small whispering background noise, the cd version is much more cleaner.
I tested a one minute long track on cd and the mp3 compressed version is perfectly clear with my phone, better than this audiobook.
Dear Audible, please use a better quality of audio compression, this is one of my favourite book.
I know you can do it because your other books are more cleaner than this one.

Bad bad bad
I love the Harry Potter books, but I was unable to listen to any. I contacted audible and they couldn’t offer help. This was terrible as I couldn’t even click on it.

I have never read the book, now questions of time and then interest. My young self thought that the movies were enough but when I grew up I realize that I was missing something.

Whimsical & Enchanting
As I was listening to Stephen Fry's narration, I was also reading the book. Mr. Fry helped the story leap of the pages and brought all the characters to live. He turned a pleasant experience into a a truly marvelous one.

Tolle Story, wunderschön gelesen
Ich höre dieses Hörbuch schon seit Monaten immer und immer wieder. Auch beim Einschlafen unterstützt die ruhige Stimme Frys mich fabelhaft.
Im englischen Original wird erst richtig klar, mit welch grandiosem Schreibstil Rowling die unglaublich gefühlvolle Geschichte eines Jungen, der plötzlich herausfindet, dass er ein wertvolles Subjekt ist, erzählt.

ACHTUNG: Halbe Audioqualität zum vollen Preis...
Diese Rezension bezieht sich nur auf die angebotene Audioqualität.
Ich finde die halbierte Klangqualität die sehr an eine 70er Jahre Telefonverbindung erinnert sehr ärgerlich!
Ein Blick in die technischen Daten offenbart:
Audio: aac, 22050 Hz, stereo, 62 kb/s - Normal wäre: 44100 Hz, stereo, 125 kb/s
Halbierter Frequenzbereich und halbierte Bitrate, was auch deutlich zu hören ist - und ja, ich habe beim Download "Beste Qualität" ausgewählt.
Für den vollen Preis finde ich das ziemlich unverschämt, daher nur einen Stern in der Gesamtbewertung.

Besser geht es nicht
Was soll man zu Stephen Fry noch sagen, was nicht bereits gesagt ist? Für mich der beste aller Hörbuchsprecher, niemand bringt Figuren so anschaulich zum Leben wie Fry.
Ich habe alle sieben Bücher der Serie mittlerweile mehrfach gehört und kann der tiefen, ruhigen, unglaublich wandelbaren Stimme von Stephen Fry stundenlang zuhören. Jede Person scheint eine eigene Stimme, eine eigene passende Persönlichkeit zu erhalten. Man fiebert mit Ron, Harry und Hermione mit, als sei man selbst Teil der Geschichte.
Ich höre die Serie immer während diverser Hausarbeiten (Spülen, Wäsche aufhängen, Saugen, etc.) und habe mehr als einmal noch einen Teller oder noch eine dreckige Ecke gefunden, nur um ein Kapitel zuende hören zu können. Die Hörbücher können also sogar die Produktivität steigern. ;)
Zur Geschichte: Von J.K. Rowling selbst kann man halten was man will aber die Story ist unvergleichlich gut. Und Stephen Fry bringt sie zum Leben wie kein zweiter. Von mir eine uneingeschränkte Hörempfehlung.

So schön!
Es ist einige Jahre her, dass ich die Bücher (auch im Original) gelesen habe und ich habe sie damals verschlungen ... Ich dachte nicht, dass die Hörbücher das toppen können, aber so ist es. Stephen Fry liest es so, dass man sich alles wieder genau so vorstellen kann, wie beim ersten mal. Auch die Spannung ist die gleiche. Jetzt geht's auf in die nächsten Teile! Langweilige Autofahrten können jetzt gar nicht lang genug sein ;-)

Schön, dass es die Originale bei Audible gibt!
Das Hörbuch hat mir sehr gut gefallen, gerade auch wegen Stephen Fry als Sprecher. Der Inhalt ist bekannt. Die Bücher hatte ich alle gelesen. Aber auf dem Weg zur Arbeit lausche ich lieber.

Truly Magical
A wonderful story, already a classic of children's literature, superbly read. Your time will be well spent listening to the first part of these magical tales.
In this first part we meet the young hero Harry and get to know the magical world he lives in so many delightful details. Engaging characters, who are easy to love as well as easy to hate and fantastic creatures make this a story wanting you to find out more about the life at Hogwarts.
