Description
Lanie Heron isn't looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club . . .
For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She's too polished and too classy for his taste. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can't say no. And he doesn't regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that's ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.
Commentaires
"Ashley delivers a deeply emotional second installment of the Chaos contemporary romance series (after Own the Wind)... Punctuated by blistering-hot sex scenes and fascinating glimpses into the tough world of motorcycle clubs, this romance also delivers true heart and emotion, and a story that will stay with the reader long after the final page is turned."—Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

4 Fire Inside Stars
There couldn't be two characters more opposite from each other but I love that they fit so well.
Hop wasn't anything like I pictured in my head from book one and I am kind of grateful for that because he was better than I thought.
Lanie on the other hand, I liked her for Hop but I wasn't a big fan of her overall. I think this could be because she second guesses herself like a LOT and it gets a little old.
I do like how Hop calls her Lady; I mean swoon if I ever heard a nickname that matches any better than that I would be so surprised. He truly thought she was the Lady to his Biker. Kinda cool if you ask me.
I loved there story, I just didn't like that it too sooooo long for them to be 100% honest with the people in their lives.
Any can we talk about the narration, thank you to whoever changed narrators for the rest of the series. Sorry I just didn't like book 1’s narrator. Kate Russell does a wonderful job with this book so I am looking forward to her narration for books 3 and 4.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

A FAIRLY DULL DISAPPOINTMENT
I'm a huge KA fan and have downloaded everything available from her and I was so looking forward to this next Chaos book but all I could say was "WHAT THE HELL?" There was no 'on the edge of your seat' action, no drama, no suspense, no danger, no build-up to the romance, no sizzling sexual chemistry and, although there were sex scenes, they were a tamed down version of what KA usually writes. I understand why Lanie had a lot of emotional insecurities and demons but I just couldn't really warm to her, I thought a lot of her actions were stupid and many of her problems could easily have been overcome if she'd only have spoken up to Hop and her friends and she jumped to conclusions without giving Hop a chance to explain himself.
There was still a handsome, sexy, bad-ass Alpha male named Hop who's got the MC's clipped dialogue and a no-bullsh*t attitude, but he's thoughtful, sweet, tender and has two great kids however even he couldn't beat Lanie's insecurities. They got on alright, had sex, then fell out, then got on really well, had sex, then fell out.... and so the storyline went.
Worth the credit? As I said I'm a fan.... so YES but this has been my least favorite book of hers however it won't stop me from downloading the next in the series.

ROMANCE CENTERED & OH SO SWEET!
It's true that this book is somewhat of a departure from KA's style of combining action sequenced drama intertwined with her romances. This book is more centered on the relationship and love development between a very unlikely couple….Hopper "Hop" Kincaid, hot, tatted-up, Chaos MC biker and classy, beautiful lady, Lanie Heron.
We were introduced to both in Tack & Tyra's book (Motorcycle Man). Lanie is Tyra's best friend who had almost gotten killed because she stuck by her man (finance, Elliot Bellova) even after finding out about all of the trouble he was in due to his involvement with the Russian mob. Elliot was killed and Lanie became collateral damage as she experienced her own traumatic life events that the Chaos MC saved her from. For this, Lanie is a friend of the club and hangs out with Tyra and the gang at the compound. Lanie's beauty, cuteness (her flair for silly drama), and her "bedroom eyes" had gotten her noticed and admired by Hopper for years, but she was "class" and definitely not his usual type. Yet, it all changes when Lanie propositions Hopper for a " no complication, one night stand." (this proposition is in the prologue of the book, but not on the audiobook, unfortunately).
There are a lot of things I loved about Hop and Lanie's love affair. First of all, I love a hot, affectionate relentless alpha-male, and Hop is definitely that! Although it was Lanie who first initiated the rendezvous, it's Hop who insists on the continuation of the romance. And, this book is really a beautiful tribute of love between Hope and Lanie. Lanie has issues and Hop is patient and promises to help her win the battle with "the monster (the problems that tear her up from the inside out)." Hop is a great combination of classic biker tough and sweet, as honey, romantic. I thought it was so endearing to see how Hop cherished Lanie and told her how he'd never had "class" before. He almost displays a tender reverence or admiration for Lanie and formulates his own ideas on how Lanie needs to be treated, as a "lady"---_ Those parts are just cute and sweet. Lanie is definitely the damsel in distress here (but more due to psychologically-haunting issues), and she relents to Hop's advances and care of her. She also spoils Hop with her cooking, her deep love for him and his children.
For most of the book, their romance was blissful, but OMG, when these lovers fight while trying to merge both of their pasts, added to that, when both get mad at the same time---WATCH OUT! The drama that ensued between the lovers was really the only conflict that needed to be resolved along with telling others about their secret affair. If you are a helpless romantic and appreciate a great love story that centers on the individuals in the relationship, then you will love "Fire Inside."
Narrator: Kate Russell did a great job, as she always has with KA's audiobooks. Great listen!

Love the Book but not the Narrator
I am a huge fan of KA. I went into this book with high expectations as the sneak peak I'd listed to at the end of "Own the wind" left me excited for Hop and Lanie's story.I read this book before I purchased the audible version and I can say this is one book where the audio version did not live up to my expectations. I think if Angela Starling had narrated this book it would have worked much better. Don't get me wrong Kate Russell worked really well in the Dream Man series but this pairing didn't work at all for me.
With that said I didn't listen to the full audio book because I couldn't get past the narrator but having read the book previously I can say this book does not stand out like "Own the Wind" (which I absolutely loved) but in many ways it still worked. I have read reviews that say there wasn't as much excitement in this book but I've come to expect that by listening to the Dream Series. I don't think each book has to be full of drama and/or excitement to be right for the characters. This book flowed well for me and while I wanted to slap Lanie and Hop a time or two It worked for me.

Hop and Lanie's love story
Fire Inside is a bit of a departure from Kristen Ashley's normal story line where the alpha male literally rescues the female main character from some life-threatening situation (like being kidnapped or stalked, etc.). Looking back to Motorcycle Man (from the Dream Man series), Lanie went through enough of that kind of drama to last a lifetime. So I thought it was logical to make Fire Inside be about the emotional monster that was threatening Lanie and how Hop help rescue her from that.
I read reviews on other websites criticizing Fire Inside quite a bit, and upon reflection, I think that this is one story that probably makes a better audiobook than a book that has to be read. If I had read this book, the many emotional ups and downs and the lack of action scenes would have made this an annoying read for me. But listening to the story was fairly satisfying.
Having said that, I have to say that I was SO RELIEVED to see that Kate Russell was back on board as narrator. She did a great job in the Dream Man series. Angela Starling absolutely ruined the first Chaos audiobook (Own the Wind). I would not have bought Fire Inside if Ms. Starling did the narration.
However, Kate Russell's narration of Fire Inside fell far short of her narration of the books in the Dream Man series. Her voices for the characters were off (especially Tack and Tyra). She did okay with Hopper's voice; Lanie's voice was not the same as it was in Motorcycle Man, but that was not such a big deal. But Tack and Tyra - not sure what happened there.
Bottom line, I liked Fire Inside, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the Chaos series.

Not as good as other KA books
What did you like best about Fire Inside? What did you like least?
I didn't really feel the connection with these two like most couples in the Kristen Ashley books. I think I was most disappointed in the narrator.
What didn’t you like about Kate Russell’s performance?
Her rendition of Hop's voice seemed overdone and was distracting.
Could you see Fire Inside being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
If this were to be made into a movie or series, I would make this story a sideline and make one of the other characters (like Tack) the main storyline.
Any additional comments?
I am so glad other KA series like Rock Chicks is becoming available. These are classic Kristen Ashley stories.

On FIRE for all things Kristen Ashley!!
Kristen Ashley is the bomb! Fire Inside was extra spicy with just enough sweet to make you swoon. Hop Kincaid is seriously some kind of man--KA really knows how to write a truly delicious man. I've loved every single book of hers so far. Her writing style (and the narration style as a result of the writing) is unique and may not be for everyone, but, it works for me and adds humor, 'swag', and a little edge to the characters. The only minor negative was Lanie's hang-ups about 'outing' hers and Hop's relationship. It was a little bit of a stretch, but, every other aspect of the story was superb! Forever a fan of KA, I highly recommend this book/series to the listener that enjoys edgy grown-up romance that will always leave you wanting more.

What happened?
I love Kristen Ashley books, but I did not love this one. It was actually boring (I can't believe I said that about a KA book) and it took some time for me to "care" about the main characters. I just couldn't connect with Lanie and Hop as a couple. It wasn't a bad story, but I found myself stopping this book to do other things like watch tv, read some paperbacks, mall shopping, etc. If I can let a book go for a couple of days and not care about finishing it....well, you know what that means.
Sadly, I was disappointed.

Narrator ruins characters
A little harsh I know. But had I not listen to other Kristen Ashley books and absolutely was fascinated by the Colorado Men series, I would never listened to another Ashley book. The characters are suppose to be these amazing he-men and the narrator has them talking in these wimpy voices. The female characters are even worse. I was torn from returning the book and keep listening to a great story. I finished listening and I am glad I did. The story is great though so maybe reading would be better than listening. Book is perfect for the times you just need an escape from reality. I have listened to most of the Kristen Ashley books and highly recommend them. Just stay away from this narrator, it is not a good fit.
