Description

Just when you thought it was safe to cruise again....

PC Rachel Prince returns to cruising after giving evidence in a difficult trial. She wants to recharge her batteries and reevaluate her future after receiving threats from the man she helped put away.

Taking Queen cruises up on their offer of a free luxury cruise aboard the Coral Queen, she opts for a sailing to New York.

Rachel's best friend and cruise nurse, Sarah is also returning to the ship to start a new nine-month contract so the timing is perfect.
Almost immediately, Rachel meets a cruise tour leader who invites her to join him and his Russian group for some of their planned activities. These activities should help pass the time during the sea days.

A crew member is found dead in his cabin - could this be another mystery brewing? Rachel's eagle eye spots some curious goings on among the Russian tour group that she finds enticing. Chief Security Officer Waverley wants Rachel to leave things alone - will she listen?

Sarah has problems of her own as conflict develops in the medical team when a new nurse is brought in at short notice.

Rachel can't resist doing a bit of snooping, but will she get to the bottom of a mysterious death and untangle this complex case before they reach New York?

I enjoyed the first book and so I downloaded the second book in the series.
It's a sweet and cozy mystery, with suspense and drama. Something for everyone.

A Cosy Mystery for adults!

Great follow up to A Cruise To Murder! PC Prince has accepted a luxury cruise after her first cruise turned into murder and mayhem! Little does she realize that her nose for intrigue will lead her into another shop board investigation!
The author does a great job continuing to build the characters from the first story and introducing new characters! Alex Lee is a wonderful narrator that engages the reader. She does an admirable job keeping the character voices straight and her story telling is smooth and easy to follow! I truly look forward to more by this team!

Meh

I had a hard time getting into this book. The story didn't really appeal to me. I finished the book but I seriously doubt I will get the next book.

great story

This was the second book i have read in this series. These stories take place on cruises. Rachel, a former police officer, seems to find trouble on the cruises. This time it was murder of several Russian passengers. This book kept me entertained throughout. Just when you think you know what is going on and who the murderer is, you get a surprise. The narrator does great job bringing the characters to life. I was gifted this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Deadly Cruise

Rachel and Sarah are back along with several of our other favorite cruise ship employees. Rachel is supposed to be on total vacation this time. But trouble just seem to follow her. Or perhaps it is just part of her job to have a keen eye. This story is fun and will keep you guessing. Nice job on the narration by Alex Lee.

Deadly Cruise

Dawn Brookes has made me a fan of Rachel Prince. I love the imagery she writes in this cozy mystery series, the twists and turns, the unexpected culprit. I love it when I do not guess the correct suspect!. Alex Lee was wonderful performing this book! I could hear exactly who was speaking. I loved how she gave the various characters distinguishable voices and accents. The book is both part of a series and a standalone listen. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Great plot!

This book was interesting and a lot of fun listening. The plot has a few twists and turns that you don't expect.

The performance was great although I did notice the narrator, Alex Lee, hasn't quite gotten the gist of the Jamaican accent. This is of little consequence as the Jamaican character has minimal participation. I just happened to notice as I am very familiar with the various island nations accents.

All in all, you will enjoy this book and keep guessing as to who is the culprit. Only to find the ultimate culprit is a complete surprise.

Cozy mystery

I loved the first book so I had to get my hands on the second. I have to admit that it did not hook me as a cruise to murder. However, as the book progressed I started to get into it. I figured out who did it but the author pulled the rug from under me towards the end. Was not expecting it.
There were more characters in this book then the previous one so it took a while to remember who was who but I loved it. There is a lot of twists and turns in this book compared to the first.
Can't wait to read/listen the third book.
It is a clean read so it suitable for all.

Quick and entertaining mystery at sea novel!

I recently saw the old Columbo movie mini series that took place with him solving a murder on a cruise ship. I'm a total detective mystery genre junkie, but I normally prefer to consume those stories in a visual format - i.e. television and movie. For the last several months, I've been on such a detective mystery series and movie kick that when the opportunity came along to read this mystery at sea novel, I jumped on it. And boy am I ever glad I did!

Rachel and her best friend Sarah find themselves caught up in a murder of not one but two people on board the cruise ship. It's a week long cruise, and the story's pacing reflected that very well. I was close but not quite 100% correct in guessing whodunnit.

I also really enjoyed Alex Lee's audiobook narrating style. My ears enjoyed hearing the various accents she was able to do so smoothly. She was also very good at doing both male and female character voices which was a huge relief to me.

I'm excited to now go back and listen to Rachel's first eventual cruise ship adventure in A Cruise For Murder.
