    Description

There are whole anthologies of stories out there about what humankind does when a game enters their world. But what about when they're living in one where a game arrived thousands of years before? What if they're the survivors of a bloody struggle, having fought for and earned their place on the planet?

Tailyn Vlashich was a young nobody far away from all those grander issues. All he cared about was one thing: making his way through a harsh world where the emperor, evil foes, and an impartial god held sway. And the god, of course, demanded nothing less than that all things were done in accordance with its divine will.

    same old same old

I am at the end of this book and I have to say that at first this book is quite good but then our MC has a constantly changing IQ. I swear the main character will come up with a smart idea one second in combat and then a second later stand in place and be stunned when what occurred is not anymore shocking than anything else that has happened.

I also want to warn anyone that dislikes most of the russian fantasy tropes to NOT get this book. I will list a couple of tropes here that are in some russian fantasy/scifi stories and in this book also.
    1. annoying and one dimensional antagonist childhood bullys that live WAY too long.
    2. obvious and easy to see coming traitors/betrayal.
3.main characters being treated like crap even when they do almost ALL the work.
4.most women in the story except maybe one are either super submissive or extremely manipulative and domineering, no other type of women exist in Russia I guess. similarly men are either always distant and untrusting or just straight up rude and also manipulative or corrupt, no grandfather types or even funny types.
5.main character can be a bad ass one second and then turn into an idiot a second later even when it is about the same action/subject like combat.
6.adult or other character in power trying to manipulate the main character.
7.all the events and knowledge/maturity the MC had gained through the book being thrown out the window when convenient for the author.
    8. pulling the "the MC is just a child" card to excuse stupid actions.
9.every adult dismissing children as if they are all stupid and can never make good points or be intelligent.

I could go on but if you read this list and do not have any issues with these tropes then go for it and purchase this book. I thought this book had good moments though and I hope that the next book is better, if I ever listen to it. Finally the narration is too fast and should be dialed back a bit, this was the first book I have ever had to make slower 2.5 stars.

    Narrator almost ruins the story

The narrator has a weird pace. It’s halting and hurried at the same time. I had to slow down the audio just to listen. The story is interesting but the majority of the characters are downright awful.

    Too bad

I love Mr Mahanenko stories every story is unique. pity that the Narration is so bad the Narrator read it like he's in a hurry to be done, it's too fast. typically 430-page books take around 10 hours and this book ends after eight hours and forty minutes.

    Good, but misleading

The story itself is good, but the characters needed more depth and needed to be the same age as the cover art. Also, the MC is supposed to be an alchemist, but nothing about him is alchemist like. He uses spells like a mage, wears mage equipment, and even is seen as a mage by those around him. Him being a alchemist is pointless in this book. He crafts a few potions, but apparently herbalist and mages can too. Having a class system is meaningless if there are no boons or negatives to gain other skills or class skills. Apparently he is also the only one to break the common sense barrier of this world too.

    what a freaking awesome ride

    man, this book was awesome.
1st. narrator was awesome. i listened to this at 1.0 speed and it was right up my alley, i usually do 1.3, so he reads quite fast.
    2. i loved how the story takes place thousands of years after the system comes to earth. it makes it feel so fresh.
    3. characters feel alive. i hated Dort so much, that is awesome. when i feel riled up for the m.c. so good. my one complaint, the m.c. is 10, but at times acts more like a much older person. not major but could break immersion a litttle bit.
    4. worth the credit. ill be following this series for sure

As always, V.M. produced another fine story

I've been a fan of this author for some time now and this is just another addition of awesome works by a really good author. I wont try to describe the story and give away key points. If you are a fan of litrpg, then chances are you will enjoy this book.

    Worth the credit

I truly enjoyed the book! I did , BUT somethings don’t add up! Like how does the old herbalist get back in the MCs good graces at the end? That makes no sense. It’s like people do terrible things and become enemies but they just stay away from each other or act like it didn’t happen. Lol. Naive is a big part of this book

    not finished yet

okay, so I'm a fan of the author to a point. there are a few things
about this story that make me frown. the mc is a ten year old boy that pees when he sees villains, and throws up alot, and there's an uncomfortable bit of him liking a girl.
what I do like about it is that the story idea and world building is excellent.
the narrator is alright. there are a few times where he sounds like he is chewing gum, and there are a few times where the audio is obviously recorded at different times. I assume that some of it had to be edited for translation.

    Pleasantly surprised me

Threw in a couple of vague story spolier, fyi.

Surprised by some of the dislike for both the narrator and story choices in this take on the game based novels.

I found the audio while odd at times, rather fitting for the time of the book.

The story and characters were interesting. A lot of unsaid information leaving you curious for more, but I think it does will staying in the scope of the main characters knowledge. He's a kid growing up in a harsh world with a load of luck but with some hardship thrown in. The love interest near the end threw me off, but sort of works.

I found the system being a rather non-caring diety amusing. Not sure what else to mention other than the pleasent surprise that this was. I didn't remember who the author was until after I had finished it and was saddened to discover there was no book 2 yet.

not his best story by far

it's like he got bored by all of his good stories that he made and decided to make a story where the God's choices along with other things are designed to piss you off, because The choices make zero cents, to the point that if I hadn't listen to this author's other books I would have thought he didn't know how video games and elements in video games actually work such as loot systems but because I have listened to this author's previous works I know that he does know how they work and just chose to not let them work in normal ways for this story not everything is bad in the system but there are some things in this book that will confuse you and upset you because they don't sound like something that would happen in a video game world, I'm deliberately being vague so that I don't ruin any elements for those who choose to listen to this book just know certain elements in this book will upset you I will never listen to this book again and I'm not sure I will even buy the next one of this book because book one sets the tone for how the rest of the books are going to be so, this one pissed me off in elements the other one will do the same

I like the story and voice.
Just way too fast for non native english people.
