Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Hurtfully misogynistic, but relevatory.
This i installment was sexist to an almost infuriating degree. I almost gave up on the series because of it. We all know Harry has a skewed view of women, but Blood Rites took it much further than usual; from tolerable to near hurtful. However, i trudged on hoping things would get better. I was rewarded with fantastic reveals into Harry's past, and heaps of intrigue. Character development was fantastic, and I felt validated in my choice to continue. I wouldn't say the ending made the misogeny worth it, but it saved the book in my mind.

Worth the wait!
I was determined to listen to the Dresden series in order, so it was a pleasant surprise when books 6 & 7 became available months earlier than expected! Blood Rites features a fairly new and interesting character, Kincaid the bodyguard of the Archive. I'm looking forward to hearing more of his story in future books. Love the addition of Mouse!
James Marsters sounds more polished and "edited" than in the earlier books, but the books are becoming more complex and polished as well. It's still a fine matching of narrator and author.

Not his best work
The book holds your interest, but I have read several of his other novels that were more engaging. Several times during this book I wanted to fast forward. I really wish he would get a girlfriend. And he gets beat up and hurt a heck of a lot in this book. Overall, he prevails, battered and worn. What's up with a hero that is always getting jacked up? If that keeps happening he'll be dead and the series will end. The narrator as always is great. You learn more about the main character's past. That's good. Some good surprises and some bad ones in the book.

another terrific installment in the series...
...and another excellent audiobook performance by James Marsters, who really brings the series to life.
When Harry's incubus friend Thomas calls in a favor, Harry finds himself working on the set of a porn movie, trying to figure out who...or what...is trying to close down the production by killing off the film's female stars. Of course, there are many, many complications, high danger, White Court vampire intrigues, and of course, Jim Butcher's trademark witty dialogue.
A thoroughly entertaining audiobook!

This installment really brought it!
I've been enjoying this series thus far, but this installment really brought it! The porn star murder mystery had barrel-of-laughs written all over it, doubly so with Harry Dresden on the case. BLOOD RITES put a lot of the characters' roles into perspective; Murphy tries being a vigilante on for size, Ebenezar is not what he seems, and Thomas—I did NOT see that one coming. This book was a turning point for THE DRESDEN FILES, and... PUPPIES!

New developments keep this alive and strong
I very much enjoyed the plot twists and character developments in this book. It opens up boundless opportunities for more Dresden Files. This is one though that would be hard to read without preamble.
Marsters is a Master!

Another great installment
There are so many praiseworthy elements to Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. Time to note a couple of them that I haven't mentioned before:
1) JB knows how to steal from the best. I think all writers steal - all artists, for that matter - and the best do so in such a way that the audience doesn't mind a bit. J.K. Rowling is an excellent example of this. She stole all sorts of plot elements from things she'd read along the way (sorry Ursula K. Le Guin). Here, Butcher steals from her. Isn't the world full of lovely karma?
2) James Marsters. Marsters is so good, such a wonder with intonation, accents - he does things with lines that are utterly unique, things that I'm certain the author never anticipated. This duo of author and narrator are perfect for one another, and it's impossible for us, at this point, to accept anyone else as Harry's "voice."

first weakness
since I started this series that I've already read I've been floored by Marston's performance. it's excellent. however after 6 books I finally can say I'm a bit dissatisfied with his potrayal of Lara. if she's a sultry sexy succubus then in my opinion the voice should read the a calcutive sinister inflection. Ive always imagined a sexy version of Cruella DeVille without the "darlings". Still excellent it's just my reviews were getting same with 5 stars and praising of Mr Marston's.

Good, but trite at times
I like the basic story, but I think the writer could have done at least a minimum of research regarding Firearms since they are in the book so much.
Also, it is distracting to pretend that a 100 pound woman is some Kung fu master, motorcycle dare devil, crack shot, Sherlock Holmes, bone breaking, research phenom, super cop. Even in a book with demons, vampires, and magic the suspension of disbelief has limits.

Not the best Dresden, but very good
Not Butcher's strongest of the series so far, and with a bit of a weak villain, Blood Rites manages to introduce and expand on the characters adjacent to Harry admirably.

Good read
Great book. I think this might just be the best story in the Dresden Files so far. The past books have to some extent being annoying me, because the actions of the protagonist have been very childish. I think this is the first time I have noticed him growing up/maturing more. I look forward to reading more about a grown-up Dresden later.
The story has been pretty good too. After the strong buildup in dramatic action over the last books, I was a bit worried that the author Jim Butcher Wouldn’t be able to keep it going. The plot twist with his family as well as the developing relationship with Murphy (finally ;) ) help smooth it out for me.

Das beste aus der Reihe bis jetzt :)
Es wirkt so als ob Jim butcher jetzt erst den character von Harry Dresden voll ausgearbeitet hat. Sehr unterhaltsames Buch und hervorragender Sprecher wie immer
