Edgar Allan "Poe" Rutherford works as an unlicensed private investigator on the island of Maui. He does the occasional job for Mara Winters, an attorney who represents some of the wealthiest and most eccentric locals. Poe's latest assignment involves the case of Charlotte Chambers, the elderly owner of the Chambers Hotel. Charlotte's worth tens of millions, and she's been receiving threatening notes in the mail.
