We know that as demand for goods and services evolves, so do marketing strategies. Print media, radio, and television were once thought to be the main methods of marketing. However, with the development of the internet, online marketing is booming and is quickly becoming the most affordable and efficient way to share information virtually anywhere in the world. Internet marketing has become more and more popular as the internet develops into a social media platform with interactive communication. In just a few years, online advertising has increased in value to the tune of tens of billions of dollars a year, according to various data. According to a Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) analysis, it was anticipated that the US would spend 16.5 billion dollars on internet marketing in 2006. Internet marketing has grown to be a multimillion-pound industry in the UK as well, according to research by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB). Reference: www.iabuk.net.
A study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the IAB suggests that, as a result of rising internet usage, UK online advertising expenditures may for the first time approach £1 billion.
