Description

Mia Devlin knows what it is like to love with your whole heart - and then watch your love walk away. Years ago, she and Sam Logan shared an incredible bond built on passion, legend, and fate. But then one day he fled Three Sisters Island, leaving her lost in memories of the magic they shared - and determined to live without love.

The new owner of the island's only hotel, Sam, has returned to Three Sisters with hopes of winning back Mia's affections. He is puzzled when she greets him with icy indifference - for the chemistry between them is still sizzling and true.

Angry, hurt, and deeply confused, Mia refuses to admit that a passion for Sam still burns in her heart. But she'll need his help - and his powers - to face her greatest, most terrifying challenge. And as the deadline for breaking a centuries-old curse draws near, they must take the first steps toward destiny - and come together to turn back the dark.

Critiques

"Well written and well crafted....Sandra Burr creates subtly different voices and accents for the different characters. Her pacing is excellent, and she conveys just the right amount of expression and emotion to make listening a light and thoroughly enjoyable experience." ( AudioFile)

Don't end.

I got totally wrapped up in the trilogy and did not want it to end. I wanted a fourth book. The characters were so vivid in my imagination.
Bravo to you Nora Roberts you kept my interest in every word.

nice ending

towards the end it was a struggle for me. it seems like she could have had a little more imagination in the spells. there was a lot of repeating. but overall it was a good finish.

Great Story but Some Character Flaws

I loved this series. But the character Ripley on occasion throughout the series is a bit childish for a 30 year old woman. Other than that the story is perfect.

This story is the perfect ending to the series where you see Mia come full circle and it slowly builds. I think the fight peak or crescendo could have been longer and more complicated however.

Voice over is perfect.

The ultimate ending!

Mia makes one want to go work at Cafe Book just so that you can learn from her and take in her learnings.

The 3 together are a force to recon with - if only love and romance were this easy!

Nora Roberts makes you want to read only trilogies so that you can get into the lives of the charaters.

if only this were real! i'd move in a flash!

Wonderfully writted, wonderfully read!

Thank you fro your insight and research and thank you for making them audible!

Abusive Man Wins?

In book 1, and a major premise of book 2, we are faced with Evil in the form of an abusive husband. One who forced his wife to fake her own death rather than continue a potentially deadly relationship.

In book 3, we are asked to put aside an equally abusive man, one who may or may not have had good reasons to destroy the woman who loved him [Don't all abusive men have excuses for the things they do to their loved ones?] and have pity on the individual, who, after all, was only doing what he had to do. The fact that he destroyed the life of one woman is a shame, but, "The ending always justifies the means, doesn't it?"

I say - garbage stinks, no mater how much perfume you apply to it. Love is not always the answer and rejection of abuse, in all forms, must stand. This is the flaw in the series and in book 3. Nora Roberts, of all people, should have seen it coming.

I have to give the story One Star. No matter she resolved the storyline in the end, the people involved, should NEVER have made the choices they did in book 3 if the lessons learned in book 1 and 2 were even slightly real to the author.

Love the book, dislike the voices

This is by far my favorite series by Nora Roberts. I do, however, wish that the audio books could be read by several persons, each with their own character like in the old radio shows. It is a bit disconcerting to "hear" Zach talking with a female voice.

very good but too much a combination of others

Too close to Guardians and Shane brothers trilogies. Not enough humor. Too many similarities from the other books. Actually thought for a while I had already listened to this series. Good though.

Nice ending, just a little abrupt

What did you love best about Face the Fire?

It was great to finally see how everyone's relationships and interactions really impacted each other's ability.

What other book might you compare Face the Fire to and why?

This series reminds me of the Raintree series from Linda Howard. In a cliffnotes version, there are three siblings who all have an "ability". There are two brothers and a sister who have lived since the dawning of their gifts. They each have a specialty and through the series meet their mates. It is when they come together for the final battle, which in this case is an actual battle, their relationships (and a little surprise) are tested during the final scenes.

What aspect of Sandra Burr’s performance would you have changed?

I feel that Sandra Burr relies on using the same voices for her character's with every book she narrates. For example, take Sanctuary by Nora Roberts. The character's sound exactly the same in both audiobooks.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not have an extreme reaction to this book. The series was very good and why everyone was brought together was finally seen.

Any additional comments?

I have to admit, I was a little annoyed by Mia's over exaggeration of her self importance. It seem to take away from the story line for me. As I have written before, there were three books dedicated to this series and the ending again seemed very abrupt and left me with that almost unsatisfied feeling, "Oh that's it. It's over. Well, ok."

Three Sisters Island

I felt there is still so many stories for Mia, Ridley and Nell! I wish it didn’t end! Loved this as I do all of Nora Roberts books!
