Description

David Bennett came out to his parents as gay when he was 14 and entered Sydney's active gay community a few years later. In A War of Loves, he shares his growing desire as a gay rights activist to see justice for LGBTQI people, his journey through new age religions and French existentialism, and his university years as a postmodernist - before Jesus Christ showed up in his life in a highly unexpected way, leading him down a path he never would have imagined or predicted.

David had believed he was disqualified from God's love until he encountered that for himself in Jesus Christ. In A War of Loves, he recounts his dramatic story, investigates what the Bible teaches about sexuality, and above all demonstrates the profligate, unqualified grace of God.

Outstanding!!!

Bennett shares his journey, his heart, his studies, his faith and his commitment to God in this an authentic, convicting and inspiring book. I personally was moved much more deeply to be crucified with my Savior in every aspect of my life. His story strengthen and encouraged my own faith, convictions and understanding of the love of God. Thank you so very much.

A Must Read

I get frustrated listening to all the non LGBTQ people tell all their opinions about how same sex attracted Christian should live, and how they got this affliction, yada yada. It’s SO SO nice, and essential, to read/listen to the words of a same sex attracted gay person who had gone through, and wrestled with God. There are enough opinions out there from people who are talking about groups that are not their own. We all, especially in “the church “ need to hear, and listen, and love most of all.

Brave and Sensitive with Biblical Integrity

As much if the world and the church assign bravery to those coming out, Bennett's coming out as a gay, celebate take bravery to another level. As a straight, married, evangelical pastor Inwent From struggling with Bennett's stance on homosexuality to being humbles by hus commitment to Jesus and the scriptures. His heart for God, sacrificial lifestyle and love that embraces all of humanity is a challeging inspiration. A War of Loves is a must read for anyone longing for an honest approach to ministering to, relating to, or experiencing Homosexuality. That includes everyone following or searching for spirituality, and actually, everyone living in our culture.

Keep an open mind and open heart

I loved this book. David took pains to be vulnerable and authentic to his faith.

Beautiful story of redemption

Thank you for writing this book. Your honesty and courage to share your heart is inspiring. It inspires me to be more committed and intentional to seek the heart of Jesus and to seek the people that he loves.

An uncommon but much needed perspective

This book gets to the heart of a debate that is all too common in society today. The authors first hand perspective lends a genuine empathy to the plights of many gay Christians and pursues an honest, open, and transparent point of view in an effort to display the love of Christ even through a struggle that causes an individual to question everything they’ve ever known about themselves. Ultimately, this book shows that the love of Christ is worth giving up everything, even if it means letting go of what we think makes us who we are and taking on a new identity in Jesus Christ.

OK and informative, but full of emotionalism

The story of David is interesting, but addressed the problem of religion from an emotional point of view, so emotional that declares hearing God's voice telling him what decisions to take.

Amazing!

It's so nice and so important to realize and let the world know that Christians don't hate homosexuals. We believe it is a sin, but we Christians, are Christians, because we realize that we are sinners, and can't do anything to earn our Salvation. We all have a cross to carry and it is different for everyone. I love the way David Bennett shares his homosexual struggles and his love for Christ too and the constant war of loves he faces.
