Working It In

Yet another business trip, and I find myself seated next to a smoking-hot piece of eye candy on my flight to New York. Turns out he’s got a special talent for locating the free-spirit I thought I’d lost somewhere at the bottom of my laptop bag. He said it was nice to meet me, but I wouldn’t know how nice until we got very familiar with an airplane blanket and each other, too. It was a crazy thing to do, just a onetime stunt. So why am I still thinking about him after five years? 

Dustin, I can be a prick. I know this, and I’ve been working on it since high school. No, really I have. Nothing could remind me of that little fact better than the girl I owed the biggest apology of my life. Only, Willa had disappeared until the day I managed to get her fired from her job 12 years later. I could make things right for her; get her a position on my team at Hunter Railways. 

Kara - If there's one mistake I'll never make again, it's falling in love. A certain member of the male anatomy makes me stupid apparently, and anyway, I'm too busy building my empire. All I need is my favorite toy and my bestie to keep me happy, or so I keep telling myself. Cole - I fell in love with my best friend in college and married her when her heart was broken to pieces. But Kara is under the distinct impression that her heart has never been safer with me, her best friend, because as far as she knows, I’m gay.
